    Lovin' It!

I just had to post a hello and update!  I'm so excited about launching The Dirties on Diapering photo journalism book this fall!

If you are a company sponsor and haven't done so, please email me your 500 words and/or company logo depending on your sponsor level.  I am wrapping up the Green Baby Directory in the back of the book and the special thank you sections.

I plan on releasing the cover of the book next week!  So get excited!  On the front you will see two adorable babies wearing their bumGenius and Gro-Via diapers!  Thank you for your amazing support!

Thank you again everyone!  I'll keep you posted!  Yay for Cloth!

    Sincererly,

    Jamie Wilkinson

    Research & Planning

I have been reading A LOT about diapering lately, looking up research studies, etc.  The information from both sides of the debate are definitely overwhelming!  But I'm so excited to dive in!

The first place I will be visiting this summer is Seattle, where there are 12 hospitals in the area that use cloth diapers!  Wow!  I will be visiting a few of them and hopefully the diaper service that does their laundry!

I am also working on trying to set up a tour & interview with Proctor & Gamble at the Pampers Factory in Cincinati, OH.  Cross your fingers tight for me!

I'm also in the works of trying to decide on a landfill to visit.  Any ideas?  I know there have been a few that have even attempted to recycle disposable diapers but the cost was too high for the result in the end.  Looking for great pics of what the diapers are doing in the landfills.

That's all for now!  I will continue to keep you updated!  Thank you once again for supporting this project!

    Sincererly,
    Jamie Wilkinson

The city of Toronto Ontario has a diaper disposal program where the separate the plastic from the waste and turn the paper and waste into compost. might be worth looking into.

Tiny Tots in Campbell, CA offer a single-use compostable diaper which they take to a commercial composting facility. It breaks down in a matter weeks instead of centuries. We need more composting facilities in major cities, but they are having success. Here is their website,

If you don't find a good landfill picture, maybe you could have a photo of the amount of diapers a single baby would use until he/she was potty trained (say 2 1/2 years)...then you could say how many babies in diapers we have in this country this year...something like that.
