SproutRobot

San Diego, CA

SproutRobot is a web site that helps people start vegetable gardens. We've got a good start, but we're out of money and we need your support to keep the site going until we can get to a sustainable revenue stream.

    Whats next

    Hi everyone!
So despite your Valiant efforts, we were unable to raise the money for our goal.
What that means is that we do not get any of the money that you pledged, so we are looking at our next steps.
We will continue to provide free service and continue to work on the project. We are all looking forward to the months to come.

We can also still use your help!
The best way that you can help us is to sign up for an account at http://sproutrobot.com. We have three different gardening options and we will send you seeds and planting instructions.
You can also help by spreading the word, 'friending' us on facebook, and starting your own garden.

Thank you all so much for your generous support, and your faith in our project. This is just the beginning, and we are excited for the successful steps to come.

On behalf of the Sprout Robot team,

    Happy Planting,

    Rain

    foggy in SoCal

    Hey everybody!
well, it is foggy in SoCal and my brother has been working diligently on the garden. Eric and I are working on a new planting calendar that is more specific---me doing data entry and him doing the confusing programming stuff. :)
We only have 10 days left to raise 9,000 so short of a miracle we will keep you updated on plan B.

We have had over 10,000 visitors to the site and we have our first official backyard garden member--she gets a LOT of seeds and planting advice, and we are excited to work with her.

the reason for the fog in the summertime here is that the deserts are unbelievably hot, and the coasts cool, and the hot air hitting the cold air makes an epic fog bank.
I will post a new blog post later today so check it out at blog.sproutrobot.com

    Happy Planting

    Yeay!!!

    Yeay!! Everyone!!!
You guys are awesome! Thank you so much for your support!
So much gardening love to you all.

We are doing well here at the robot house. We have had a few more articles published, in Mother Jones and some other sweet mags. We spent the afternoon yesterday installing drip line in our garden so we don't have to water by hand any more. Today we did a veritable spring cleaning--albeit a little late. :)
We are having 300-500 new people PER DAY visit the site which is soooo amazing!

Getting closer and closer to the kickstarter deadline---Rain is getting nervous but luckily Dillon and Erik are keeping her nerves in check with apple pie and hugs.

We would love it if you guys could help by spreading the word to your friends and family---lets make this hot hot hot and get funded!

I just added a new blog post--so please check it out!!!

    Update number one!

    Hey everyone!
This is my first update and I am excited!
I am sitting in a little donut shop, eagerly spreading the word about Sproutrobot and our progress on Kickstarter. I'm in San Jose right now, but Erik is in San Diego working like a bee. (Think worker, not drone). Ah, farm joke.
So we are updating our planting calendars right now and I am getting all of my amazing farmer friends' input. We want to make the calendars the best they can be, so we are talking to folks on farms across the country to do it. I have friend in Oregon and one in Illinois that I am excited to hear from--it is good to get in touch over such an exciting venture!
This week we will be doing press stuff and then getting in touch with master gardeners across the country--which will be really fun for me as they are typically a pretty crazy bunch.
I met a farmer once who wore a mask all night that looked like a moon-man, and he told me his stories about reckless farming and sex. It was a crazy night with wild stories. Turns out he is a really famous farmer who has been in countless documentaries and books. Go figure.
So I'll keep in touch, Spread the word and, as always,

    Happy Planting!
