    Posted project update #9

    May 9th, 2011...

First off, happy new year to all our friends, family and fans. We love you all dearly and we hope that 2011 has been more about love than freezing temperatures.

    Check this out, y'all.

A couple of years ago we started writing some songs for a new album. The name "Fatcamp" stuck as a working title because it was jokingly the unofficial name of our last tour. Fun times, indeed. Well, Fatcamp began and as soon as we made some progress with the material, we also started worrying about the current climate in the music industry. Sure, with the internet and all the social networking sites out there it seemed like an exciting time where anything could happen. An equal playing field has been created between the popular, well established recording artists and the crazy, independent ones. But in this new wild, wild west scenario it's hard not to feel lost in such a vast sea of music and entertainment.

We came to the final conclusion that all we really needed to focus on our hardcore family of fans.

    YOU (yes, you).

Everyone of you beautiful people who have been with us all these years. Through all the lineup and name changes. Through all the ups and downs. Through everything. We initially set out for our next project to be special, different and more exciting than anything we had done before. We didn't know the process would equal it's intensity.

Exactly one year ago we threw ourselves out there with a new plan. We were to (as the kids call it) crowd-fund our next album through Kickstarter.com and hope for the best. The idea was to raise some mula to help us finish Fatcamp through all it's phases (recording, mixing, mastering and reproduction), shoot some music videos and have enough cash left to put on a couple of shows (a listening party, a cd release party and so and so). in return we'd offer some rewards and prizes for those willing to part with their hard earned $$$. The response was nothing short of amazing and really rocked us to the core. Around early May 2010 we reached our goal and began the work, not easy given everybody's zip codes and "to do" lists but we made our way there.

Well, we're very happy to tell you all, that a year after we began the kickstarter experiment that the release date is upon us.

    YEAHHHHH!

We will officially release FATCAMP (Vol 1 and 2) on May 9th, 2011. Exactly one year after we reached our goal with kickstarter. We witnessed a miracle and that miracle was your support. Without it we would never be where we are now. It's been a crazy couple of years since we started talking about the new music and it's the beginning of a brand new era for us. We are extremely happy that we are all in this together. Much love, mucho love. Thanks to you we were able to fire up our monthly NEW SHOTS (9 releases so far!). Every month free music and video for all! It's been fun and we plan to continue them till the end of time (or some time before that...ha). And now that we're in the final stretch we can't wait to bring you our new album and celebrate the journey together with you!

SET THE DATE: May, 9th 2011!
CD Release Parties TBA (but right around that date).
    Wooohoooo!

Thank you, again for all the love. We are grateful.

    SHU-SHO

FATCAMP LISTENING PARTY - NOV 20th at SULLY's in HARTFORD, CT

    Hello SHU-SHO family!

Checkin' in with the latest on the "FATCAMP" opus.

On November 20th, 2010, we (SHU-SHO) will be having a supercool, 80's themed listening party at Sully's (Hartford, CT) for "FATCAMP", our latest recording. We chose Hartford because, well...it's our hometown and a large part of you are in the Hartbeat, baby! You can't rock the pub! Come out in your best 80's gear next Saturday and get stupid with us.

We have so many reasons to celebrate (you know we'll use any excuse to get down with you). As we finalize FATCAMP Vol I and II we thought we'd let you get the very first listen at some of the songs that will end up on the album and a taste of some the works in progress. EXCLUSIVE for you peeps who can make it! We'll sing, we'll dance, we'll laugh, we'll cry...together.

Plus, WE WILL SHOOT A VIDEO for the song "Fatcamp (The Skin I'm In)" one of the tracks from the album and guess what...

WE WANT YOU TO BE IN IT! If you want to participate, let us know.

You'll be required to wear the wardrobe (a special "I Survived SHU-SHO FATCAMP" t-shirt that you'll get to keep) and you better be ready to dance. We want you in your freakiest 80's flavored getups and SHU-SHO members Carla Pereira, John D. Cornelius and I (Giovanny Blanco) will be on hand to participate and perspire with you. It WILL be fun! We'll have other giveaways as well. We're really excited to party down with y'all. We can't to get loose and bug out with y'all. (The demo version is at the bottom so you can start shaking it off).

Now of course, it will not all just be song listenin' and video shootin' but also some LIVE MUSIC PLAYIN'!

We couldn't assemble SHU-SHO properly (the entire band will be back around the way in March 2011 when FATCAMP is officially released) but half of SHU-SHO will be present (the SHO half of SHU-SHO) and we've gathered some talented CT folk to pay a musical tribute to one of our biggest influences: Hall and Oates! You see, we couldn't finish FATCAMP without your help and we wouldn't have gotten to the point of writing this stuff if we never would've listened to the likes of Prince, Queen, Bowie, RunDMC or HALL AND OATES. The funk goes all around - from them, to us, to you. We're calling ourselves HAULIN' OATS: The Hall and Oates Experience for this special occasion. I don't care how cold it might be because "when you feel cold, I`ll warm you and when you feel you can`t go on, I`ll come and hold you - It`s you and me forever... Sara Smile". C'MON, WHAT"S THE HELL ARE YOU THINKING - GET THAT UGLY ASS SCARF ON AND COME ON DOWN TO SULLY'S!

We thank you for taking us over the top for FATCAMP. We're in the final stretch but because of your support and love we've begun THE NEW SHOT: our monthly series consisting of new songs, remixes, b-sides and videos - ALL FREE TO DOWNLOAD!!!
    http://www.shu-sho.fatcamp.com
It happens every month and it will always be free - thanks to you!

So get your 80's freakydeak over to SULLY'S in Hartford on Saturday, Nov 20th!

NOTE TO THE KICKSTARTER FAMILY: Let us know if you are going because all of you who participated in the KICKSTARTER effort to bring FATCAMP to life GET IN FOR FREE - BUT YOU NEED TO LET US KNOW you're coming to the celebration!

WE REACHED OUR GOAL FOR FATCAMP thanks to all of you and we will never forget this. Come and get funky with us!
