Sad news but not bad news!

Sadly I was unable to raise enough in pledges to get the funding I needed for the project.  I am going to seek funding from other places now as I still want to make this CD and get it to the kids of CAMP!

So a huge thank you to all of you who pledged to help my first Kickstarter project.  It is greatly appreciated.  I am humbled by those who gave so much and thrilled that I still had some last minute pledges come in.  It shows to me that this is a project worth following through with some way or another.

You can stay in touch by signing up for my newsletters from my website (www.diamondscree.com), and by visiting my blog worldofstories.blogspot.com

    Again - thank you.

    Peace,

Song written and almost recorded for CD

Only a few hours left, less than 48.  If you know other generous and supporting folks, please make sure they know about this project!

During the break I went to England to visit family, but had a fantastic opportunity to get together with my old best friend Billy.  We have played in a few bands together and recorded a few songs!  We were able to record a track I was hoping to put on the CD.  It is a song about growing up and how all too soon our little ones are growing out of their shoes.  Although the lyric and basic idea of the tune was put together in September, Billy and myself were able to write a complete track and get the basics down.  The music, I think, is pretty much done - we just need to work on the vocals!  I am adding the track here so you can listen to it.  Bare in mind we did this in a few hours and the vocals are VERY rough at this point.  This is NOT the final product.  I simply wanted to share it with you.

Even if I am unable to get the backing I need this time around, I will continue to work on this project and have a second-go-round, looking at other ways to find the money.  This CD will be, as I have said in the past, very different.  It will have the feel of a radio show complete with the odd bit of static here and there.

"This is New London calling, tune in your receiver for CAMP Exclamation Point!  Today we will start off with a track called Growing Too Big For Their Shoes."

wonderful! You should talk to Cicely Markhoff about performing at MOG this summer and possibly being able to raise more funds through that effort for the CD.

    Something very different

First of all thanks for all of you who have backed me.  I still have a way to go, and little time left, but have been working on the ideas of how I will make this CD very different to my other albums.  This one will have the premiss of a radio show complete with static in places.  There will be stories and music, and I might include a wacky interview with one of the staffers of CAMP!.  The music, or at least the lyrics will be written by myself and be story-based, in the grand folk tradition.

I have invited Marek Bennett to join me on this project as well as Steve Glazer and Stevens Blanchard. If you are familiar with my CDs you will have seen Steve and Stevens before. Steve as a brilliant musician (he helped write the music for the first two CDs and played on all three), and Stevens as engineer and producer of the second two CDs (he also writes, plays and sells his own music as solo artist and as founder of the Conniption Fits).  Marek is a cartoonist, and musician with his own band called Big Paws.  I have a very strong feeling that this collaboration will be a fun and very creative one.  I will begin recording my bits soon and will add some of what I do to this website.  You will be notified!

    Again, thanks!
