Post CommentThanks to you all, we met our goal!
James is jumping right into more filming, first in Portland and then hopefully we can get him to Boston before we settle in with gallons of coffee and donuts (supergreen smoothies and salad for James) to edit the months of footage and create one awesome film!
I'm sorting out rewards and t-shirts and will try to get you all a message before the day is out, but if you don't hear from me today, you will tomorrow.

Post CommentI can stop obsessively checking my email now! Thanks so much to everyone for pledging and bringing us up to our goal. Whew!
The Limited Edition Girls Just Wanna Grind T-Shirt design has been finalized and we're really happy with it and we hope you'll like it too. This shirt is available with the $50 pledge. (if you're tempted to get it but pledged less, you can change your pledge if you do it before the Kickstarter campaign ends)
Please continue to share this project as the more support and exposure we get, the easier it will be for us to bring the finished film to a mainstream market. And, we won't say no to receiving more pledges. Additional funding will go to hiring additional crew while in Portland and travel to film girls outside of California.

Posted project update #48 DAYS LEFT! New Rewards and Video Plea now up
We've got 8 days to go and we're just shy $850 of our (very low) goal. If we don't reach our goal, we get nothing. We've added a video plea to our project and cheapsk8r.com has generously donated skateboard decks and more for us to offer as a pledge reward. (thanks Bob!)
We now need to move outside of the skateboarding world to get mainstream exposure for this film project. If you are on twitter you can ask sports figures, television personalities, girl empowerment speakers/writers/organizations and more for a RT (retweet) with the project link.
There are a lot of people who will be inspired by this story and it's certainly not limited to skaters.

Post CommentThank you all! It's wonderful to start every day with an email inbox overflowing with messages of support and positive energy! (and some lovely pledges!)
While finances are a hugely important factor in the success of any project... having a group of supportive people cheering for you to succeed is priceless. We really are giving everything we have to make this film be the best it can be and our energy would definitely be waning by now, if it wasn't for the encouragement and passion of all of you.
Don't get me wrong... we're still hearing a lot of "no's" and a lot of "girls shouldn't skateboard" and even more "nobody wants to see girls skating"... but we know there are a lot of people out there who do want to see it and want to try it themselves.
Just this morning I received another great message from a young girl who stumbled on our project and sent us this... "Hi, my name is Kerri and I'm 11. I wanted to skate since I was 7 but my parents say no. I showed my Mom your video and I think she's going to get me a skateboard now!!!! I wish I can be as good as the girls in your video!"
Together I think we can change how a lot of people see skateboarders by bringing these amazing girls to the forefront. Please share this project with everyone you can! We have two weeks left to meet our goal (hopefully surpass it!) or we won't receive any of the funds pledged.

Post CommentWe have spread through the skateboard community like wildfire and the outpouring of support and positive energy is truly overwhelming. Thank you to all our backers for getting us started towards our very low goal of $3500. And thank you to everyone who is working to spread the word, every view we get helps our chances of becoming a Kickstarter featured project.
I am working hard to contact people outside of the skateboard community and get press for the project and these amazing girls, while the SRM cameraman is fighting traffic and maneuvering around Los Angeles amidst the madness of the 405 closing to continue filming our main skaters. Including a multiple backyard bowl adventure tonight to which everyone is invited. Sadly, he's now filming without the use of a key camera lens which broke last night. This makes it all the more vital that we reach our super low goal of $3500 and hopefully beyond that.
If anyone is available to shoot tonight in HD or has a wide angle Canon lens to lend, please get in touch.
Thanks for all the help and the kind emails! We will make this happen!
