Simply amazing - this project has caught my heart, my mind and my spirit. I have personally been working on this project for the last 2 years. It is an inspiration and proof that the human spirit and community can create amazing things if we allow ourselves to try. Our mission is to help everyone who sees her overcome the fear that dreams can't be made reality! You may ask what will she do? She will sail the seas of Burning Man and will inspire tens of thousands of people - as well as be used in a variety of parades and other outreach efforts for our local community, since she always draws a crowd! It has also built a community around it - people ask about it - work on it, learn things working on it, meet people through it... Seriously, this project has brought so many of us together (over 100 people) to learn skills and do things that we never thought we would learn to do, let alone creating such a mysterious and unique beauty of a artistic creation as the CS Tere Pirate Ship. THAT is a priceless thing. The primary reason this ship is so uniquely beautiful, is due to the creative vision, attention to detail and artistic finesse of Andy Tibbetts. He is a young and talented structural engineer, currently employed full time. This crew is not slackin, they work - and they work HARD. This ship is his passion and love. For him, it brings people together to learn and help create a community artistic creation for all to share in. Though his passion and dedication to this work - he has gathered together a crew of dedicated contributors, including, but not at all limited to - a mechanical engineer - Jules Eiche; as well as her partner Allen Sparks. Then, holding the crew down with her organization skills is Claire Dean - a accomplished cultural anthropologist that has seen the fire in this crew and has dedicated much of her spare time to help keep the momentum. As much as we would like to fund this project solely by ourselves, that is not possible. We need to ask for help to enable the final vision. We need your help to complete her. We need to raise $6000 by July 11th to purchase a new engine, finish the back steering wheels and build the sails of fire! All labor is volunteer, this cost is strictly materials only. Please contribute what you can, knowing that EVERY DOLLAR counts right now. If we dont reach our mark, we dont get any money. We hope this will not happen, we all plan on continuing to work together, learn together and build stronger community. Thanks for your consideration and time! Love you! ~Kelli Pope (aka Kelli Klein, Rua) This crew also helped me create my art project Circe Lux - we all create and envision together.
