Posted project update #3Great News - The Festival has confrmed it will happen this year!
Post CommentDue to the burst in support and confidence that we will be able to fund the festival this year, they have confirmed they are committed to doing it in April.
However, we still need to raise the $5,000... they are counting on it to help with expenses the week of the festival, to make sure everything falls into place.
Spread the word, we are excited we could give them the confidence to making it happen!

Posted project update #1More about the Fringe Film Festival
Post CommentThe Fringe Film Festival was recognized as one of the top ten Arts events in Sarasota last year - See here - http://bit.ly/757pIn
We need to make sure this festival happens in 2010. Its a low budget festival, that will be held in the downtown mall next to Hollywood 20... this year will includes some great films made by local filmmakers and like last year will be a community oriented festival that is great for the economy, and great for the arts.

Posted project update #2s/ART/q Event a Success!
Post CommentWell, we just had our second event for s/ART/q (www.sartq.com) and this one was even bigger. The first event was a small gathering of 400 people for an underground art show - and last night we blew the roof off the HuB with over 1,000 people coming to get screen prints.
The event benefitted s/ART/q and local artists who share a vision with the HuB on how we elevate our city.
The HuB was proud to be part of a great event, and hopes to continue to support artists, entrepreneurs and young professionals through innovative projects like this in the future.
TOTAL ESTIMATED ECONOMIC IMPACT OF THIS EVENT = $8,000

Posted project update #1HUB PLANS
A few people have asked me "What exactly is the HuB build-out plan?" - So I thought it would be helpful to outline our plans.
The HuB currently is an open warehouse space (about 3,000 sf) and we have our desks all bunched up in a corner. Our goal with the space is to make it functional and a utility for entrepreneurs and artists. Here are some ideas we are throwing around:
1. We want to enclose part of the space and make a conference room area and use it for virtual meetings, webcasting, webinars, etc. We have a lot of tech startups that need a place to meet, interface virtually and also do demos/presentations to an audience on the web. So we thought what a cool idea to have it for startups locally to use.
2. The second room we want to build out was a studio - we are doing more video production, and also we want to start offering a editing studio for game development.
Also, we want to add more wall space for local artists to feature their work - we currently hang and promote a variety of artists from SaRtQ locally.
We think of the space as a tech-space and over time as we continue to add more function and capability we believe it will draw a lot of local entrepreneurs, which is ultimately the goal - to bring people together, creative minds, to launch ideas.
