Posted project update #11THAT'S A WRAP!!
We made it through an exciting final three days of shooting. Thanks to all the kind folks of Ocean City, MD for extending their generosity to us as we came through with our DARKER team. And thanks, as ever, to our hard-working cast and crew. Our team for this final leg was a bit smaller than our Baltimore group, but no less awesome in their enthusiasm and dedication. It was our pleasure to welcome a few new faces on board, as well. We couldn't have done this without any of you.
We are now thrilled to be entering the post-production phase of DARKER's journey. We'll keep you posted as we go forward with news and updates.
And to all our Kickstarter backers, thank you again for your support. Your rewards will be coming soon if they haven't already arrived.
Stay in touch!
Take care. All best,Matt and the DARKER team

Posted project update #9Final Specials + THE WIRE script signed by DAVID SIMON
It's crunch time here rounding the final bend of our campaign . Thank you to everyone that's generously contributed already. We could not have gotten this far without your help. The shoot continues to be incredible, with more and more support being offered daily and truly amazing performances from all of our actors.
We've got a few treats for this final update. First, we'd like to share with you a short video of the first cast read-through of the script. Put together in a quick fashion, it hopefully provides some insight into the environment Darker will inhabit.
And we're thrilled to unveil Mike McNeive's t-shirt design for the film (still available at the $45 level) See below.
Yesterday we added two great new levels. For a pledge of $40, 10 donors will receive one Presenter-Level Friends of the Festival memberships to Maryland Film Festival. And a one-of-a-kind new level, for a pledge of $1400, one lucky donor will get an original script from HBO's groundbreaking, now-classic Baltimore-based drama THE WIRE, autographed by the show's creator David Simon.
We're excited to offer some excellent rewards as daily specials for everyone contributing here in the last few days.
THURSDAY (8/11):
The first New York City-based contributor to pledge over $250+ will receive a BAM Cinema Club membership at the Film Aficionado level. 40% off movie tickets for member and a guest all year to BAMcinematek and BAM Rose Cinemas. BAMcinematek's annual film festival, BAMcinemaFest was home to the New York premiere of PUTTY HILL.
FRIDAY (8/12):
The first 20 to pledge $125+ will get a tour of top locations featured in HBO's THE WIRE. Darker producer Eric Bannat (who also produced Putty Hill) was the locations scout on The Wire and will lead this 4-hour expedition Transportation not provided.
SATURDAY (8/13):
Our final day! The first 5 donors to contribute over 1k on Saturday will get their own personalized 8mm film reel shot of them, their loved one or child by Matt. Pick your Porterfield scene: walking through doorways, mowing the lawn, floating in an above ground pool, singing karaoke in trashy bar, ambling past a hidden Baltimore locale. Be the star of a Matt Porterfield short film!
