Headmaster No. 2 Launch Party: Providence Edition

Headmaster No. 2 is here, and currently available online as well as through nearly two dozen stockists.  To celebrate, we are throwing ourselves a little party at The Salon in Providence next Thursday (the 18th).  Copies of both issues will be for sale, if you haven't bought yours or subscribed already, and a number of our contributors and models will be in attendance.  Those of you who attended out NYC launch in March will also be excited to know that HARSHBOYS will be providing another frosty and homoerotic DJ set for us.

Oh, and if you haven't seen it yet, Headmaster is featured in the current issue of Providence Monthly, as one of the first local projects to receive its initial startup money through Kickstarter.

We hope you can make it!

    Road Trip!

In less than forty-eight hours, a dark blue Volvo wagon with Rhode Island plates will get on 95-S, abandoning the chilly predicted rains of southern New England for the steamy tropical paradise that is New York City.  Inside this Volvo wagon will be several things that may concern you:  a large pile of Headmaster magazines, discreetly wrapped in brown paper, for instance.  Also some artwork.  A few t-shirts.  A hula hoop.  A guy named Randy.  And your party-planning Headmasters themselves.

This Thursday evening, we will be celebrating Headmaster at Home Sweet Home (131 Chrystie Street between Delancey and Broome) from 7-10 pm.  New York, we know you know how to party, and we know that this particular party will be a very good opportunity for you to demonstrate that.

But wait, there is more!  We will also be unveiling a super-limited run of Tannar Veatch prints.  If you like eggplants (or, sorry: egg plants), you will want to snap up all three.  We will also be selling what's left of the caber tosser Headmaster t-shirts and the few remaining Jason Tranchida and Jorge Urena prints* [see our January update for photos].  Act now or act never!

Tunes will be digitally spun by Harsh Boys, and there will be a special on the Headmaster cocktail, which we can assure you will be delicious.

If you're in New York, we hope to see you there!  And if you're not in New York, we hope you'll pass this on to someone cute who is.

    Regards,

    Headmaster

*If you can't make the party but would like an egg plant print, we'll be selling any that remain afterwards.  Same goes for the t-shirts and the chair prints.

Headmaster NYC Launch Party March 24!

Hello! Long time no update, huh?

Headmaster here, writing to let you know that we're hosting our first-ever New York party at Home Sweet Home (131 Chrystie Street) on March 24, from 7-10pm. Frosty yet homoerotic disco will be provided by Harsh Boys, and you will be able to sip on five dollar Headmaster cocktails, which are delightful.

Our Providence launch in December was a huge success, and we think our New York party will be just as thrilling. We're expecting a good crowd, including our two New York-based contributors, folks from our four Manhattan retailers, and all of our Gothamite Kickstarter backers. We really want to see you again (if we know you!) and also to meet you for the first time (if we don't know you!) Oh, and there may or may not also be a mustachioed man with a hula hoop in attendance, although we prefer not to give too many surprises away.

The event is free and open to the public. Hope to see you there!

    Love,
    Headmaster

    Turn In Your Assignments, Class!

    Hello, backers!

Today is January 16th, The Day After Your Homework Assignments Were Due. We've gotten some projects back in, and they are really something! However, it seems like maybe some of you needed some extra time? Better late than never, we say. Better to be tardy than a complete failure. (We say that, too.) That is why we wanted to remind you to get in your stories and cameras and drawings.

Oh, and don't forget to put your name somewhere! We got a rather... remarkable colored pencil assignment the other day from someone who didn't include their name or put a return address on the envelope. We know they mailed it from the 02904 post office, but beyond that we don't know who they are. Don't be so shy!

We also want to tell you about our prints. For the first issue, the printing gurus at iolabs made a special run of 25 11X14 prints of our centerfold, seen below. We've only got about ten left, but they can be yours. They're $45 each plus shipping. E-mail us (headmastermagazine@gmail.com) if you'd like one. (We've also got a handful of Headmaster t-shirts left, too. Drop us a line to purchase one while you can, unless you're a medium, in which case sorry!)

Oh, and we also wanted to let you know that this is your LAST backer update! From here on in we're moving in to the thrilling world of e-mail blasts. We're taking the liberty of signing you up for our monthly-or-probably-not-even-monthly notices, which will keep you up to date on Headmaster parties, upcoming issues, and more. If you don't want to be on the list, that's okay! We promise not to take it personally. Just click the 'unsubscribe' button when you get the first e-mail.

Surely you've gotten your copy of Headmaster by now--unless you're one of our six elusive backers who didn't give us your address and didn't show up to the party. (Naughty!) But we wanted to let you know that the magazine's now for sale in a few stores. In Providence you can find it at Mister Sister, Heir, and at the AS220 Project Space. In Toronto you can get it at Glad Day Bookshop, and in Baltimore you can find it at Atomic Books. Folks in New York and LA can but it at Bookmarc, and those of you in Boston and Provincetown can pick up a copy at Marc By Marc Jacobs.

Oh, and finally, those of you that couldn't make it to the party might want to know the recipe for the Headmaster, the cocktail we served at our Providence launch. It consists of 2 oz. Canadian whisky, 4 oz. ginger ale, 1 tsp. superfine sugar, and the juice of half a lemon. Pour the whisky, add the lemon juice and the sugar, stir with an antique straight razor, and top off with ginger ale. It is the perfect cocktail.

Here's wishing you a great spring term. And for God's sake don't
forget to hand in your homework!

    xoxo,
    Headmaster
