Posted project update #21WE GOT PRESS!!
Post CommentHi Everyone!
Hope this update finds you well. Just wanted to give you a few updates about Project DOG - first off, WE GOT PRESS!
MODERN DOG MAGAZINE (current spring issue) - We got a fabulous book review in Modern Dog!! I'm so thrilled, this is a really big deal and I'm so glad that they loved the book and supported our mission! We got the first review, and they even used another photo (Bentley the Bernese rescue) on the next page! see bigger pics here

CURVE MAGAZINE (April issue)
We also just got a 4-page feature in the current issue of Curve Magazine! This is huge and writer Rachel Shatto wrote a fabulous piece summarizing very lengthy interview answers that I sent her and featured a ton of photos!! I never thought I'd ever be in this magazine, it was such a huge surprise and honor to get covered!

In the photo world, I've been nominated as Best Pet Photographer in the Bay Area A-List. If you've read this far down, please take a moment to show your support for Project Dog and vote for me! As of yesterday, I was in 1st place, but I need all the help I can get to snag the win!! Voting ends in 4 days!

BOOKS
Please let me know if you are still waiting on books - my sincere apologies for anyone who is still waiting. I sent out all of the books that I had left in Feb (and have recently sent out all of my own personal stash), and have been waiting weeks now to receive the rest of my initial order from the printer. The books are due to finally arrive this week, and I will send out all remaining books ASAP.
Thank you again to everyone for your continued support and patience, I really appreciate it and hope everyone is enjoying their book.
Woof,
Kiraps. Don't forget to vote! CTVR.US/NUENA

Posted project update #19Books are out!
Great news, the books have shipped!! I'm very sorry that they were not delivered as promised before Christmas - unfortunately the delivery was delayed and did not arrive to the warehouse until the afternoon of the 22nd, and I was out of town until after the new year -- so I spent the entire last week (and today and tomorrow), packing and shipping more than 400 books.
Many of you have already received your copy... if you haven't gotten it yet, it should arrive within the next few days! I have been working tirelessly to make sure that all of the orders (and the correct quantities) have been shipped, however due to the high volume of orders and multiple ordering channels, I may have missed a few -- if you have ordered more books than were shipped, my apologies in advance -- please email me at kira@nuena.com. Also, I'm still waiting on a few of your addresses, so please email me with your address so I can ship your book.
This entire project from concept to delivery has been a 1-person project (ME), so I truly appreciate your patience and understanding, as I know it has been frustrating to have to wait for your book.

If you have received a book, we want to see!! Take a photo of yourself (or your dog) with the Project DOG book and email it to kira@nuena.com so I can add it to our "IN THE WILD" gallery on the Project DOG Facebook page!! If you're not following us on FB, CLICK HERE to "like" us now! Here's a shot of Valentin the Borzoi with his book!

Thank you again to everyone who supported Project DOG throughout the past year and on Kickstarter! ...I will keep you posted on new developments!!

Posted project update #18Launch Party Success
We had our official launch party this past Saturday at the WAG Hotels in San Francisco. It was a total success and we had an AMAZING turnout!! There were more than 200 people attending as well as about 80 dogs (most of them stars from the book). The line for the book signing went out the door and we all had a blast!
Thank you everyone who came out to support Project DOG - many people braved the weekend traffic and came in from as far as 2+ hours away - and my "in-laws" came all the way down from Washington! It was really great to see everyone again and extra cool to see all of the dogs from the book (and people) meet and mingle!
An extra special thanks to all of our event sponsors: BARK Magazine, The San Francisco Bay Guardian, Red Dog Graphics, Aurora Catering, Mutt Lynch Winery, The San Francisco SPCA and WAG Hotels, THANK YOU for your support! I also want to give thanks and a special shoutout to our friends at Mijo and Bambi and Molly Mutt!
Here are some pics! If you attended the event and took photos and video, upload them to the Project DOG Launch Party group on Flickr so we can all see them! Or you can post them directly onto the Project DOG Facebook Page wall!

Goodie bags all ready go to!

Harley had a good time meeting everyone too, here he is sayin hi to Shady Lady the Norwegian Buhund.
JoJo the Toy Poodle
Getting my pic with Moose the Yorkie...
Orbit the Whippet in the book signing line...

Odinn the Ibizan Hound on the runway

Lily the Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier on the runway
We also got a book review featured in the current issue of the San Francisco Bay Guardian!!

Thanks again for supporting Project DOG!!
Kira
ps. We were filmed by the Travel Channel Europe for a show.. hopefully they will upload it online once it airs!
Book Update: I was only shipped enough books for the launch event, the rest of the books will be shipping soon. I will keep you posted on the delivery schedule as I hear word...

Posted project update #17Happy Cyber-Monday! Enjoy 20% off before Dec 1st!
Post CommentHappy Cyber Monday!! Don't forget you can save 20% on the hardcover and digital edition of Project DOG if you order before Dec. 1st... that's only a few days away, so stock up now for your holiday gifts, and share with family and friends!

Other updates...
- The book is still in production, everything is going smoothly, will keep you posted!
- The .epub version of the digital book is also still under way, I'm about half way through with the layout... whew, can't wait to be done! The digital edition has been doing very well, and I hope everyone who purchased it so far is enjoying it!
- The launch party is almost completely sold out - it will be an exclusive launch, mainly for Project DOG participants and the media, due to attendance restrictions at the event location (WAG Hotels). As much as I would love to pack 600+ people in there, there simply is not enough room (sorry)!! The event will feature a rooftop meet 'n greet, a 50-dog strut down a 16ft fashion runway with live readings from the book, and a cocktail hour!
- releasing the official post-production press release this week
That's about it, hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving holiday!

Posted project update #16Official Launch of Project DOG [digital edition]
Today is very exciting!! After all this hard work, I'm thrilled to announce the official launch of the Project DOG [digital edition]!! This is an interactive PDF, an exact replica of the book, which is viewable on computers, iPad, NOOK, iPhone, iPod Touch and more!
The digital edition is available now for $12.99 (reg $16.99) before Dec. 1st.
Here are some screenshots I took from my iPhone (using the free iBooks app)

As you can see, when you import the file, it sits on your bookshelf just like any other book. You can swipe each page to advance and you can also view the "list" which gives you a "table of contents"-like view. It's so awesome, and it looks even better on iPad!
This first version is PDF only - an .ePub version of the book (for NOOK, other e-readers) is currently in production and will include new photos!! The .ePub version will be available in a couple weeks.
Thank you again for all of your support!!
Kira
Other updates: The final proofs are at the printer and the book is being printed as we speak!! Also I'm in the midst of planning a fabulous launch party - at the WAG Hotel in San Francisco on December 10th, 4-8pm. Stay tuned for more details!

Great news Kira! This certainly adds Holiday Cheer to the season at hand with it's timely release. You've accomplished a lot through your hard work, paid a great tribute to all dogs and made their owners feel like a part of it all along the way. Kudos!

Posted project update #15First Official Book Review!
Hello everyone,
I'm thrilled to announce that Project DOG got its first official book review! Thanks to the Pet Secret Shopper Blog, which is part of Dogtime.com, one of the largest sites online for everything dog. Quincy the Australian Terrier is the first lucky dog to get some love and the review also mentioned Pearl (Affenpinscher), Gracie (Old English Sheepdog) and Joey (Beagle). Woo hoo! Read the article HERE!

Other project updates... things are moving along at the printer. I am expecting the final proofs next week!! It's all happening so fast, but there is still alot of work to do... if you are thinking about giving the book to your friends and family for the holidays and need to order more books, CLICK HERE TO VISIT THE ONLINE STORE NOW.
I'm about halfway through formatting the files for the e-book and am hoping to launch that within the next week or so... The Project DOG e-book will be available via the barnes and noble website and will work on Nook and other e-readers which use the .epub book files. I will also be working on a Kindle version shortly after.
Until next time...
Kira
PS. On Monday I am launching a mini challenge to sell another 200 books on preorder before the end of the month, so I hope you will help me try to reach this goal by telling your friends and family about it!

We've ordered a copy of this book and are looking forward to receiving it with great excitement. We already know the photographs are gorgeous and there's going to be so many of them! Plus, I lived in the Bay area at one time, so all the locations are going to be a fun reminiscence as well.
When I read the Secret Shopper review, I noticed that, at the suggestion of a commenter, the wording was changed a bit from the one above. The newer version refers to "nearly" purebred dogs. I didn't think there was such a thing. My sister had a purebred Golden Retriever and a purebred Bernese Mountain Dog. She insisted that the puppies that resulted, who were all adorable of course, were purebred as well. I've never heard of a purebred mixed breed, so I'm curious.

Hi Kira, I sent a PayPal payment on Feb 7 to expedite shipping for a replacement book for the one I never received. I never got a response so I just wanted to make sure everything was all good - thanks!
Kira - I have been sending you emails but gotten no response. I have not received the book I ordered. When can I expect to get it?
