    Independent Cycle Touring now shipping!

I'm posting this as a courtesy announcement for those who have not checked back here since the funding failure. Not being one to be easily discouraged, I went ahead finished the book, got it printed, and it is now available for sale at the Independent Cycle Touring web-site!

So far the response has been quite positive, but check out the sample (posted at the web-site above) and see for yourself!

    On the last chapter

I'm now working on the last chapter of the book. It looks like I'm unlikely to reach the fundraising goal at this point, but that's not a problem. I'll make arrangements for all backers at the $100 level to receive previews and get a chance to provide feedback (I haven't put together photos, and obviously the book will require several revisions), no matter what.

Tour of the Alps 2010 Trip Report done

I have just finished the Tour of the Alps 2010 Trip Report. I'll take a short break now from the insane amount of writing this required, and return to working on the book next week!

I've thought a bit about what I would do if I don't make the fundraising goal. My take on it is, I will try to find a print on demand service (like Lulu) that can handle large file sizes. Lulu is much more expensive than Amazon's CreateSpace or a regular printer, so the price of the book will be much higher, but that's the price of not being able to meet the goal. I will probably sell the book as an ebook as well, if that were the case.

    Keeping my fingers crossed,
    Piaw

Back from the Tour of the German Speaking Alps

As usual, updates, etc., can be found on my blog as I write them. I have a couple of interesting videos to share as well, and I'll be putting my high powered desktop to good use editing them.

In the mean time, I hope you enjoy the photos:

I've rolled my bike onto planes naked (no box, no plastic, no nothing) before. It works well. You do have to take a few precautions, but I'll cover those in the book.
