We Make a Book
Posted project update #26Where Is Your Book?
Hi everybody --
For those of you still without a book: WE SUCK! We tried to schedule a date and then that kind of faded away and then... nothing. But we're fixing that.
You will have FIVE chances to pick up your book in the month of December. Kickstarter will be manning a table at the Degenerate Craft Fair in NYC, and we will have copies of New York Makes a Book on-hand. The dates, locations, and times are as follows:
December 4th (8pm – 12am)
Silent Barn
http://www.myspace.com/thesilentbarnDecember 13
Sunday: noon to 10pm
303 Grand, Brooklyn
http://www.303grandnyc.com/December 18 – 19th
Friday: noon to 9pm (reception 7-9pm)
Saturday: noon to 6pm
BravinLee Programs

526 W 26th streetIf you are planning to come to one of those dates, let us know if you could. Would be good to know roughly how many books to bring. If you can't make any of those dates and you are in NYC, we (Kickstarter) will have an office in the near future and you'll be able to stop by. If you are out of NYC and are lacking a book, send us a message.
We love you all! Happy holidays!

We Make a Book
Posted project update #25If You Still Need a Book...
Hi everyone. When we first launched the project we specifically asked for just New Yorkers because we weren't raising money to ship any books, solely to get them printed. Still, not everyone has gotten theirs yet, and we want to get that straightened away.
If you haven't yet gotten your book, please respond in the comments to this post. We're thinking we'll throw a second book gathering -- this one much more low-key -- and people can come out and pick up their copies. And if you are not in NYC, you could simply send a friend to grab your copy. Sound good?
Please respond in the comments if you still need a book. We'll do our best to find a date that works for as many people as possible. Cheers!

Sorry I could not make it out to the opening, working and such. Any date is fine for the future or I could pick up at a strategic drop off point.

We hope to see everyone there. It's at Le Poisson Rouge (158 Bleecker): http://lepoissonrouge.com/ Bring your friends.
If you cannot make the party but want your book, consider sending a friend to come and pick it up. We'd be glad to pass it along through them.
Thanks! We can't wait to meet everyone.

We Make a Book
Posted project update #22New York Makes a Book Party: September 17th!!
Fellow authors! We are excited to *finally* announce a date and location for the New York Makes a Book party: it will be held Thursday, September 17th at Le Poisson Rouge (http://lepoissonrouge.com/) in the West Village. The space is absolutely beautiful -- it's going to be great.
The event will last from 6 until 9. Guests are absolutely welcome. And when you come, you'll get your copy of New York Makes a Book.
In terms of the book itself, it's looking great. We're about to send off for one last proof to make sure our fixes look okay, and once we do we'll place the order through Blurb for all 100.
And speaking of Blurb, the folks over there have agreed to give us 30 extra books for press and people who come to the party who might want to get one. Big thanks to them for that.
Okay! Hope everyone can make it. See you September 17th!

We Make a Book
Posted project update #21The book arrived! The book arrived!
Hell yeah! The proof copy of NY Makes a Book just arrived, and I've got the video to prove it. We're going to go through page by page making sure everything is cool, and once it's set we'll place the big order and set a date for the party. It's looking good so far!

So there are definitely things that need to be fixed. Give us a little bit to get everything squared away. Think we're looking at a mid to late August party, most likely. Cool?

my 2¢:
since so many nyers traditionally take vacation time in august why not err on the side of "late august" to be safe and as inclusive as possible...
[and yes, i am partially being fairly selfish about this.] -
Yancey Strickler on July 27, 2009
hey adam --
yeah late august seems likely. we'll find a time that works for as many people as possible

We Make a Book
Posted project update #20New York Makes a Book is almost ready!
Hi everyone --
We've spent the past month gathering everyone's entries and doing the layout for the book, and we're expecting a proof next week! After checking that to make sure everything is kosher, we'll place the order for the books and set the date for the party. Hope everyone's excited!
