    Born to Do Science Podcast!

    Howdy, Backer!

I know it's been a while since I posted anything about Songs From the Science Frontier, but tonight I have some big news...

I'm launching a science podcast for kids and families!

Each episode of the "Born to Do Science" podcast will feature a conversation with a scientist and a kid co-host as well as an original song inspired by the scientists' work.

If you and your kids would like to know more about the science behind the songs on the SFSF CD, this is your big chance!!

For now I'm recording five pilot episodes, based on existing songs. The pilot series is my "proof of concept." If I can attract an audience (my goal is 1,000 listeners), it will help me land the funding to continue. My goal is to eventually produce new episodes once or twice a month, with a brand new song each time.

My first episode is Dr. Wouter Hoff with kid host Liza, talking about how microbes can sense light, and the featured song is of course "My Molecular Eye."

    You can listen here: http://www.borntodoscience.com

I realize not every backer will be interested in this, so I won't post about it again.

But if you DO want to follow my progress with the podcast, please...

Thank you, and enjoy the podcast!!!

Hi Mary Kate! Thanks for sharing that - I love it! Kids googling words from the songs is just what I hoped would happen! By the way, let Andrew know that the word in the song is "phototaxic" - it'll make more sense! (Lyrics are on the disc - you can access them via any computer.)

I just made it into your first top 10 viewers - what a thrill! Great job documenting a behind-the-scenes look at the nitty gritty (signey-whiney, winky-blinky, snaily-maily...). Hats off to you!
Cost-ineffectively, but nonetheless supportively yours, Jackson

    All Done!!

Whew! After many frustrating delays, today I finally sent the Songs From the Science Frontier master in to DiscMakers, which means I have nothing left to do on the CD but wait for it to arrive!

I should have copies in hand the week of November 22. I'll have your envelopes ready by the time they get here so that all I have to do is sign, stuff, and mail.

If you paid for an early digital copy you will hear from me very soon about that!

Let me just say - I LOVE this CD!

I feel so lucky that you backed it, and that I got to work with great people like my producer and keyboardist Chris Wiser, drummer Dr. Rock, bass player and engineer Dave Spindle, engineer Trent Bell, and mastering engineer Garrett Haines. All these guys really know what they're doing and they all put in the effort to get it right as if this was their own project. I couldn't have been happier with the process and the results!

I know I said it before, but now I know what it sounds like, and... I can't wait for you to hear it!!

Well done! I can't wait to hear it! It's so nice to see all the people willing to support education through music and Tom's Fun Band is happy to be a part of it!
