Posted project update #3Recording Update!
Post CommentMost of the recording is being done in Asheville, NC. We are able to be apart of the sessions via Skype. It's pretty cool! Here's a pic of River Guerguerian recording the percussion and Eliot Wadopian recording the upright bass. Sounding really good!
Our parts are being recorded at a studio in Auburn, AL.

Posted project update #2Scratch Tracks.......done!
Post CommentToday we finished recording all the scratch tracks! Scratch tracks are the rough guitar and vocal that we put down first to lay a palette for the song to be born on. We basically map out the tempo and arrangement for the song. Tomorrow we will be recording all the percussion instruments. The percussionist will be in the studio in Asheville, NC and we will sit in on the session via Skype at our home in Auburn, AL. It's like we are there in the room. Very cool eh!
Here is scratch track to "You Are My Sunshine". The vocal/gtr is not perfect as final vocal & gtr will be re-recorded later in the process.

Posted project update #18 in the bag
Well, first let us say we truly appreciate each of you for supporting our Lullaby CD. We can't do this project without you! And if you know anyone that might be interested in this, please direct them to our Kickstarter Page.
When we started writing songs for this CD, we were hoping to have (3) original's on the CD & 7-8 traditional lullabies. Well, we have written 5 already which we feel pretty strong about and we are hoping to write 2 more! Which means we will record 3-4 traditional lullabies. We will record a video of (1) of the songs to share with you soon.
Speaking of the 2 yet to be written. We are looking for some input. What do you or did you sing to your child at night? In 2 or 3 words, describe bedtime at your house.
We start recording next week!
Rob

Posted project update #5Vocals....done!
Guitars were finally done last week and Rob finally got to shave! He was happy about that. They sound great! So it was on to Asheville, NC for me to do vocals. So Rob and I, the kids and two great girls who came to babysit the kids packed up the van last Wednesday and headed out. We left at 7:30am. Those that know us, know that is super early for us. But we needed to get to Asheville since we only had a short amount of time to get the vocals done. After a few stops along the way, and a little car sickness from Wilson because of the winding roads, we arrived in the early afternoon, checked in to the hotel, got the kids settled, and got to the studio. It was great to see our producer Chris Rosser. Since the start of this project, we had been working with him via skype so it was nice to see him in person. We worked until midnight that night, and I got just 2 songs done. Two down, eight more to go. The two we did get done though, Rob added a little background vocals on. Yes, that's right.....Rob will be doing some background vocals throughout the CD. I know everyone will be excited about that! So the next morning we got to the studio with Starbucks in hand to knock out the rest of the vocals. After 3 more trips to Starbucks that day, we finished at 2am! We got it all done! We couldn't finish all the background vocals, so we will have to do some here at the house in Auburn, but we got all the lead vocals done. Chris had an amazing microphone at his studio, so we wanted to use that for the main vocals. It came out great! We even reworked one of the songs while we were there, so that took some extra time. We completely changed it! It's a brand new song that we've never played live, so I can't wait for everyone to hear it! It was inspired by the story of Moses.
The next day, we had breakfast, packed the van up and headed back home. I wish we were able to stay longer. The weather was so beautiful up there. As soon as we got on the highway, we all (except the driver of course) slept for the first 3 hours of the drive. Even Juan!! Yes, Juan (our dog) came with us. This was his first road trip and we found out is he a great traveller!
So everything is coming along well. We have a new logo that should be up on our website in the next few days, we've got the CD artwork being designed, we've got tee shirts being designed, and lots of other things in the works. The list is long, but things are getting checked off it day by day!Oh, and I've got two birthday parties being planned right now too. Emery will be turning 3 on Aug. 21st and Wilson will be 5 on Sept. 16th. They are both excited about their upcoming birthdays. They are at such fun ages right now. We love being able to include them in the CD process too. They sing along to the songs, and have their favorites! I'm thinking in the next year, we will be doing a project that they will be able to sing on!
That's it for now! Please keep us in your prayers. We have a lot of decisions to make and want to make sure we are making the right ones!
Be well,
Jen-

Sounds like great progress is being made. I love that it was a family adventure. Nothing strengthens the family bond quite like a little car sickness! Thanks for the updates:)

Jen & Rob, that's so exciting! I read your email to Samantha as she was here in NC visiting where we are for a month. She's especially excited to have a cd of yours that's Christian. Me, too. Receiving emails of your progress is informative & fun. Thank you! Dana
