Posted project update #5Thank you for everything
Hi all,
Thank you so much for all of your valiant efforts - pledging, spreading the word, tweeting, posting. Unfortunately we didn't make it happen this time, but perhaps with another go around this will come to fruition! I am going to look into some grants, take some time to re-budget with a lower figure in mind, and recover my spirits. You will all be hearing from me again soon, as I won't let this project just go to the wind.
Thanks again, so very much, for all of your support.
Lizzy

Posted project update #4Half way there!
I just wanted to send a quick update to thank everyone who has backed this project. I have now just surpassed the half-way point, and more pledges seem to be coming in every day. I cannot express how much it excites me that there are so many people who deem this project worthy of their time, and how grateful I am to all of you who have contributed. Come April 7th, this Kickstarter Campaign will hopefully have enabled me to continue my pursuit of Rest Stop photographs, but it has already given me a great deal of confidence to keep going with this project, regardless of what happens with funding. Knowing that 162 people believe in the work I am doing is such a gift, and I am so grateful.

Cristin - I would love to get to the Pacific Northwest! On my trip out to the west coast I simply didn't have enough time or money to continue driving North. Someday, hopefully, it will happen! Thiago, Steven, Adora, Film, Walter, Anonymous and Alan - Thank you so very much for your pledges and you words of encouragement. It means a great deal to me to know that there are so many people who support this project!

Posted project update #3Hot off the Press!
Thanks to everyone for continuing to spread the word and of course for all of your generous contributions. I am updating to let you all know that my project was featured on NPR's (National Public Radio) Photography Blog and additionally written about in The Santa Fe Pulse. You can view both articles by clicking on the links below, and feel free to send them along to anyone you know who may find this project as vital as I do!

Daniella - A book is definitely in my future! And thank you for your amazing blog entry about my project! You totally get it and it is such a good feeling to have my intentions understood so well. Alina - I actually photographed that one already this past August! It is so beautiful in person. It will be on exhibit at the NY Photo Festival this May so if you're in NY you should definitely come by. Thanks for your support!

Rest Stops of America by lizzy oppenheimer
I aim to document the culturally significant Rest Stops across The United States prior to their extinction due to state budget cuts.
Funding Unsuccessful (04/08/2011)

When one door closes, crawl through the nearest window! Good luck! Do you have your pledgers email addresses? Or will you post future projects here for us to follow?
Best of luck!
Amy
So sorry you were unable to make the goal this time. Wish more people had been able to share your vision. Pleae keep trying ... I'll be happy to back you again.
If you redo the project, let me know (I don't always check Kickstarter because there are always more projects than I have $$). I would like to see your project succeed.
