Posted project update #5Only one week and still a long way to go!
Post CommentOnly one week left to help make Lightness & Darkness a reality! We still have quite a bit of money to fundraise for us finish what we started. We want to make it to the finish line.
Taleen and I started working on Lightness & Darkness almost six months ago. I don't think either of us knew how far we would come and how much we'd accomplish through this project. But, unfortunately, we can't do it alone. We need your help! Your sustained support has meant a lot through this. It's kept us going, seen us through obstacles and it is the lifeblood to our success.
We have our exciting release scheduled for a week from today at Chicago's Happy Dog Gallery. It's no coincidence that our Kickstarter expires just as the release starts. It's the symbolic ending to our work and we want to realize our goal so we can finally celebrate! Please support us in any way you can, whether it's the smallest donation or the largest. It all means a bundle to us.
It's worth stating that independently produced media requires grassroots level support and funding. While publishing companies have entire staffs to promote, create, distribute and finance a project, small projects like L & D rely on a small number of folks to make it happen. Your donations make it possible for us to put our book into the world. They put us in the position to be able to continue to make work. We'd be oh so grateful if you'd help us, tell your friends about us and come out to our event!
Thanks for supporting L & D,
Nicki Yowell

Posted project update #3Ltd. edition printed poem
Post CommentHey everyone! We're so excited to be closer and closer to our project goal every day leading up to our launch party on January 28...the same day our Kickstarter campaign wraps up.
Here's a sweet incentive from our $200 donation category: a limited edition printed poem encased in mylar sleeve, written by L&D contributor Liska Jacobs. She only made 20 and each one is signed and numbered.
But that's a lot of clams, we know! That's why we printed the poem in our book as well. For only $15, you will receive a copy of the Lightness & Darkness book which has Liska's poem printed inside.
Each copy of L&D also comes with a fold-out poster and an audio CD insert containing music and prose poetry. $15, y'all!
