Posted project update #86Quick Update and some pictures
Hello IRON elite,
Some quick feedback on recent questions:
1) We will have the vol/mic controls on the 3 piece IRONbuds in the future. The holdup on those and the 6 piece IRONbuds is that they aren't passing our testing yet. (The 3 piece and the earphones shown in the last update have...with flying colors. That's why we are making them and sending them to everyone. You've been waiting long enough!)
2) We will have metal earphone housings soon. Ditto with the other styles that were posted before. In fact, we are hoping to have quite a selection of earphones soon that are all modular so they can be attached to any IRONbud cables that you have.
3) The results of the Walnut vs Gloss Black earphone poll lean towards the Gloss Black. Don't despair those that want Walnut, we will make them soon too. Probably this summer.
4) Attached are photos we were just sent from the IRONpouch factory. We haven't seen these "in person" yet. The inside looks nice (feel free to comment) but we need to see the quality of the outside and color. Hard to tell from the photos.

Posted project update #85Opps, another decision point...
Forgot to mention another decision point you can have....The demand for the Maple Earphones and Cherry Earphones is strong and we want to make those (see photo).We aren't sure on the Gloss Black. We could either make this third earphone choice Gloss Black OR Polished Walnut, one or the other. And either way is fine with us.So, let us know if anyone has any thoughts on this. The reason we put gloss black in there is because so many of you wanted a metal model and we assumed that means you didn't like the wooden look.Note: the bottom image is not the exact walnut earbuds we would make but it shows what the walnut wood looks like.3 of 52View Previous Comments-

What happened to the all metal one earbuds from the beginning, or the one with wood between two metal from update 82 ??? Personally, i would prefer one of these instead of the one i did not pledge too...
Or at least you could answer some of our legitimate questions that a lot of backers are asking.
If there is a problem, tell us and explain to us what happened, or why it can't be done. It would certainly answer to a lot of peoples...
...and by the way, i still want to be part of the project, so dont refund me !!!

I'm a big fan of the darker wood--it just looks classier. The quality of that walnut image is pretty poor (color representation-wise), but it definitely looks like it could be the most appealing aesthetic of the bunch.
I would have a hard time choosing if walnut wasn't an option, but I would surely manage.

Other than that I must say that out of the wooden options in this picture I like the walnut most and the maple least.Second my confusion:
The thing is that you have showed us so many different options that I am loosing track a bit...
I'm really wondering if you are keeping the difference of quality between the standard, deluxe and the audiophile kits or if everything now is the same...??
Could you please make clear what housings are going to be used? You are done now with the testing... Witch backer tier has witch housing option in quality / look / color?Third about the pouch:
I don't really like it... I love to have something to store it in, but I'm not a fan of the pouch. I thought that in your casing survey this was not the most wanted option...?And last for shipping the 3/6 piece buds:
I ordered two audiophile intellibud kits and have no problem with two shippings, as long as I am getting both the 3 piece as well as the 6 piece buds with the mic/controller.

Posted project update #84A proposal and more free stuff
Dear Iron Elite,
We propose making the IRONbuds in 2 production runs.
We would like to make the earphones (shown below) and 3 piece wiring harness (shown below) in a production run this week. Yes, this week! These units have passed all our testing and are ready to be built.
We are still having some issues with the other earphone models and one part of the 6 piece wiring harness. They haven't passed our testing yet. When those are finished, we will ship those out in a separate package to you.
And, special surprise...every member of the IRONelite is going to get one of our $15 IRONpouches (shown below). This is to say thanks for waiting so long while we engineer IRONbuds!
Just to reiterate: You all get a shipment of 3 piece IRONbuds now (your choice of earphone and cable colors) and the IRONpouch now. In a second shipment "later" you get the 6 Piece IRONbuds that you ordered during the Kickstarter Campaign.
If that works for everyone, we will send out the Google docs form to everyone so you can make your product selections and update addresses.

The aesthetics here don't bug me so much but as a couple of other people have said, a remote on the three piece would be pretty nice. Not necessarily on this first go-round because that would be one more thing to put through testing but going forward. The six piece yoke looks kind of heavy which is making me kind of trepidations but a remote is something that I want/need for my buds.
So, yes this sounds like a good idea subject to (1) possible future changes to the three piece cord and (2) questions about the choice of the third style of bud casing (comment in other thread but I thought at least one set was going to be metal).

I would like to echo previous comments about the iPhone/Android control. I hope this is included on BOTH the three-piece and the six-piece design for those of us who ordered it. Otherwise, the three-piece design with no microphone isn't of much use to me (or at least significantly decreased use). Also, is EVERYONE receiving audiophile quality earbuds now? This post makes it sound as though there is only ONE version of the earbud, even though we all pledged at different levels. I guess I don't really care if you give EVERYONE the highest quality buds regardless of what they paid, but I certainly don't want the quality of my buds to be downgraded since I paid more. The frequent updates are nice (thank you!), but a little more specific information would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

I'd have to echo virtually all of Jason's points.
The quality and quantity of the updates is less concerning to me than the lack of followthrough on commitments, under-commit and over-deliver should be the mantra here.

Your watch back is being made this week and then we will get that out to you after we get it. Let me know how you like the T-shirt!

commented on a project updateHi Graham, I’m glad you contacted me. I show that you pledged for the watch only but “paid extra”. ($107 for the watch but paid $150). Some people have done this as “extra donations” and I gave the extra money to the Tatooine Pioneers for the Lars Expedition. That being said, I do have just three XL T-shirts left and can send you one (and a certificate). Let me know and I’ll get those out today. Best, Thomas

Posted project update #61End of the Line, the last Tatooine watches
Its Official: Its the end of the line for Tatooine Sand Watches and we have just 12 watches left over. We are making our LAST run of 67 new B dial (full graphics) watches. 55 are spoken for, they are for everyone on the "problem and lost bin" list and the 501st list. However, if anyone wants one of the 12 additional B dial watches at Kickstarter pricing ($107), let me know. I'm a bit at lost regarding the delivery date. No hurry there but can you just precise when that will be (I'm going in holidays at the end of june and need to know if I must buy temporary earphone or not).
