Posted project update #4Happy holidays!
Post CommentAs I type a project update via wireless Internet on an airplane at 30,000 feet, our interconnectedness is readily apparent. I've had requests for more information about the project from Newsweek Poland and read a blog post from China that stated that the clock wouldn't be good for party workers since they don't get paid for overtime. With all likelihood, this project won't meet the funding goal, but I thank you all for your interest and hope that you stay tuned to my efforts to get a design startup off the ground. It's been a great learning process and your connection to it is appreciated.
thanks!
Derek

Posted project update #3Holiday Gifts?
Post CommentJust a quick note... For those of you looking for holiday gifts, the clock production run won't be ready until January. I'd be happy however, to send a gift card with a photo of the clock to someone ahead of the holidays. Thanks for checking out the project!

Hey folks, thanks for checking out my project. Feel free to ask me any questions you have about the clock. It was one of those ideas that came together in a flash. I thank a really good cup of coffee and the unfamiliar surroundings of a rainy day in Reykjavik for my inspiration.
Mostly though, I wanted to do what I always aim to achieve: getting people to think about furniture in ways beyond just function. If you are interested in seeing other work from my portfolio, checkout my Flickr slideshow.

5 to 9 clock by Derek Taylor
The 5 to 9 clock demonstrates the fleeting time available each day and symbolically represents the counterbalance of modern life.
