Posted project update #3Thanks to you--we made it to our goal!
Post CommentDear Backers and Friends,
This is just the beginning of the infinite gratitude we promised! We made it to our goal of $7000 with your support, and now we will be moving full-speed-ahead with the creation of the Concrete Justice: Street Poetry book. We are in the process of gathering all that we've written, drawn and photographed, and designing and editing the book. We've found a social-justice printing press with whom we're excited to partner, and our graphic designer/book project manager Clarisa Diaz is working hard to get you the books by spring! Please stay in touch to find out about our progress and join us at our upcoming performances. Find us at:

Attached you'll find a video of Moon, one of the long-time members of Concrete Justice, performing a poem in our rehearsal space at the Society for Ethical Culture. Also, check out the photo of a rockettes-style intervention during the forum at our most recent show at the Judson Memorial Church! Just a preview of what's to come in the book....
Our deepest gratitude.

Posted project update #2Time Goes By: 11 Days Remain
Post CommentDear Backers,We have 11 days left to reach our Kickstarter goal, and 65% still to go: that's just over $4500. Concrete Justice has been very busy this month, writing, performing and developing new work. This Wednesday we'll be performing at Occupy Wall Street, and the Wednesday after, at the Judson Memorial Church for their Bailout Theater event (http://www.judson.org/bailouttheater). We've continued to meet with publishers and found a social-justice printing press that will work with us to print the book, and several individuals in the publishing industry who are planning to help us distribute the book. However, before any of this happens, we need to meet our fundraising goal. Help us make this a reality. To our backers: thank you so much for your generosity! Invite your friends and colleagues, your family members and pets, to do the same.
Help us continue to make art about the homeless experience, from the homeless perspective.Peace,Katy and Concrete JusticePS: Check out this article about one of our other Theatre of the Oppressed projects, the Immigration Circus, in the Daily News last week:

Posted project update #1New Video: Loneliness by Phil
Hello Backers and Friends!
We want to thank you from all of us at Concrete Justice for pledging and spreading the word! Right now we're exactly 25% funded, which is a great place to be. We have been busy writing, visioning, having meetings with social-justice publishers, and continuing to tour Hellter Shelter in the meantime!
We wanted to share a few new things with you: first, a new video of poetry from one of our members, Phil (below). Second, this writer in Spokane, WA came across our Street Poetry campaign. He pledged and was inspired to blog about his own history of homelessness, and just yesterday posted this interview about our work:

Read, watch, listen, pledge, share. We're so grateful for your efforts to help us reach 100%!
Best,
Katy and Concrete Justice
