Posted project update #5Picking up Rewards at Conventions & Ship Date
Post CommentHello Everyone,
We've gotten some questions about whether you can pick up your Kickstarter rewards at the conventions we will be heading to or not. The answer is, yes, you can definitely pick them up at the conventions!
- We ask that you tell us your username on Kickstarter as well as the address you have asked us to ship to in order for us to give you your rewards.
- IF you would like to pick up your rewards at the MoCCA Fest in New York, April 9 & 10, Volume 1 & 2 will not be signed by Nick Thornborrow (only Sam Bradley & Joy Ang). Stumptown & TCAF will have books signed by all 3 of us.
- Please message us if you'd like to pick up your rewards at either MoCCA, Stumptown, or TCAF
We'd also like to let you all know that we will be sending our rewards out earlier! We plan to ship all rewards on Wednesday, April 27th. Please note that we will be shipping surface and/or regular mail via Canada Post. For an estimate of how long it will take books to reach you, please take a look at the following:
Canada Regular = 1-3 weeks
USA Surface = 2-4 weeks
International Surface = 1-3 months

If you want to have a look at the book you'll be getting in the near future, check out a bunch of photos here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/joyang/sets/72157626176269476/with/5489414703/
The rest of the books will start shipping to us from overseas soon. We'll have the bulk of our order in April and we're still on track to ship individual copies to you in May. Curious about what you'll be getting with your shipment? Here's some photos of our buttons and freshly letterpressed bookmarks: http://theanthologyproject.tumblr.com/post/3234139802/kickstarter-rewards The prints are nearly done as well, and for those of you who need to choose which you'll be receiving, we'll get in touch with your options in the near future. Finally, The Anthology Project will be in attendance at MoCCA (NYC), Stumptown (Portland), or TCAF (Toronto), so c'mon out and say hi if you're in the area. We'd love to meet some Kickstarter friends in person. We'll be in touch again soon!

Posted project update #3Final Week, More Prints!
Post CommentThank you SO much for the continued support! We've managed to reach our second goal of $11000 with more than a week left of our kickstarter. Wow.
What does this mean for you guys? It means you'll all be getting the coolest bookmarks we can muster. The letterpress quality is going to be top notch. We've already had people saying they're excited for these which is pretty encouraging. Trust us, you won't be disappointed. We're making bookmarks that we'll be excited to use ourselves, so hopefully you'll feel the same. You're also welcome (and encouraged) to give yourselves a pat on the back for making this whole project that much easier for us.
So what's in store for the last week of our kickstarter? We've spent the last couple of days brainstorming about just that. It's really important to us to show how thankful we are for every bit of continued support. We've come up with a new pledge reward that we're really excited about, and we think you will be too. We want to reach $14000 next and, if that happens, here's how we'll thank you guys for the added support.
Currently one of our pledge rewards is a limited print variant of our cover, designed by Ed Kwong. It's going to look great. We thought it'd be exciting to add some variety to that pledge though. If we make our new goal, all pledges of $50 or $100 will have the option to choose between recieving Ed's cover variant as a print, or a brand new print designed by Joy, Nick, or Sam. New art created specifically for this print series. Before we ship out your books and everything else, we'll get in touch with each of you individually with images of all four prints and let you choose your favourite. What about our $250 and $500 backers? If we reach $14000, they'll receive all four prints. These prints will come on archival grade paper and they'll be signed, dated and numbered based on how many we need to make. They're going to look amazing and this is the only place to get them. (All new prints will also be 5x7in.)
Why $14000? As mentioned in our video, $14000 is what it's going to cost us to print our book. On top of that we've also got shipping costs which add up faster than you'd imagine, fees that give us the opportunity to organize this whole fundraiser, and production costs for the bookmarks, prints and everything else. It would be more than ideal if our kickstarter pledges covered the cost of our printing. If we somehow manage to surpass that goal, every dollar extra will go towards our remaining production expenses. Like we mentioned previously, every pledge makes it easier for us to focus on what matters - crafting the best possible book we can imagine.
We're really excited about all of the pledges we've raised so far, and we can't wait to see where this ends up. Thanks again for all of your help.
xoxo,

Posted project update #2Previews
Post CommentHey everybody!
We just wanted to take a minute to thank everyone for the continued support. We're so happy with how this whole project is coming together. Aside from being overwhelmed by generosity here on Kickstarter, we've been toiling away non-stop on the book. We thought it would be cool to give you guys a couple sneak peeks as a little thank you. We're really proud of how Volume 2 is coming together. Hopefully you guys dig this stuff too.
Florent Sacré has shared a few pages from his story, Regulus Regulus, on his blog. You don't want to miss these. http://florent-sacre.blogspot.com/2010/09/regulus-regulus_28.html
Sam Bosma has been posting some work from Turtle Soup. It's a great look into his process. http://sambosma.blogspot.com/2010/11/turtle-soup-page-8.html
Kim Smith contributed a great story to Volume 1. Her story for Volume 2 won't disappoint either. Click and see! http://twsketch.blogspot.com/2010/10/harry-anthology-comic.html
Haylee Herrick is working on an absolutely beautiful story entitled Semper Fi. Want to have a look? http://hayleeherrick.blogspot.com/2010/10/semper-fi-progress-installment-2.html
Marcelo Lelis has been overwhelming us with some beautifully painted compositions. There's a preview up on his blog. http://aqualelis.blogspot.com/2010/08/primeira-pagina-do-anthology-project.html
Are you curious to see the rest of the cover art? We're more than a little excited to have Ed Kwong's work on the front our book. He posted the whole thing here: http://blog.edkwong.com/2010/10/anthology-project-vol-2.html
Isn't this stuff great? If you like what you're seeing, make sure to browse their individual websites further. They're all really talented artists that we're really looking forward to featuring. You won't be disappointed if you spend a few minutes on their respective sites.
Last but not least, Joy has been livestreaming her painting process. If you're interested in seeing her paint with gouache in real time, follow her twitter at http://www.twitter.com/joy_ang to find out when she'll start streaming next.
In a couple days we'll post another batch of links as well as an update on how everything is coming together with the book. Thanks again for all of the support and encouragement. We can't wait to get a copy of The Anthology Project Volume 2 in the hands of everybody who's been kind enough to help get this project off the ground.

Posted project update #1Thank you!
Post CommentThank you to everyone who has pledged and spread the word to help us
reach our $7000 goal. Everyone involved with The Anthology Project is
incredibly encouraged by such a quick and positive response. We had no
idea we would be able to reach our goal so soon!
Now that we have reached our initial target, we'd like to offer
something new to aim for. If we succeed in obtaining $11000 we'd like
to give out an additional reward to ALL of our backers. This reward
will be a 2x6" letter-pressed bookmark:(This is a mock-up: Everything in grey will be a blind deboss and
everything in brown will be done in a gold ink)
Now that we've hit our goal we are guaranteed to fund the production
of our book, but every pledge we get from now until the end of our
Kickstarter is still a huge help for us. With a total production cost
of $14000, we were planning on covering half of the expenses
ourselves. Every pledge over our initial goal is one step closer to us
not having to worry about expenses, and instead being entirely focused
on creating the absolute best book we can. Without your help that
wouldn't even be a consideration. Thanks so much for all of the
continued support.
