Hi Folks, It's about to get very exciting. so while updates might have been scant over the last few weeks, that's all about to change. We're off to China in 10 days and expect lots of pics after that. Then visiting LA for E3 and San Francisco to visit a few largish companies there. Nothing very exciting to share at present, more to come soon. Thanks Jon

@David Ramsey, I'm sorry you feel that way. I see that you haven't in fact backed any other Kickstarter projects, nor have you created any... I'll take full responsibility for the delay. I specified a unique part for the pressure sensor and we designed around it, I got a quote for 100,000 units last October and the supplier didn't mention any quantity issues at the time. The only option would have been to somehow totally redesign our electronics and ship even later! So I'm not sure amateurish is very fair - if I'd had the cash, I would have preordered the sensors last year... but then there would have been no point in launching on Kickstarter. Most of our backers want a quality product that works, and that is what you will get.

Posted project update #10AppTag Update
Hi,
I thought you were long over due for an update - sorry for the delay - in short all is coming along well. There may be a small slip to our delivery date, I'll let you know exact delivery when I know. We will then ask for addresses, we do not need them yet.
Electronics final board will be in my hands this Friday.
Apps are on schedule - and I have 4 that are playable now.
SDK will be final for AppTag in a week or so. I can demo the apps with AppTag when the final board is fitted to the final prototype.
Here are some pics of the real thing - hope you like :-)The phone below is an HTC HD windows phone, just to show size - Windows Phone will not be supported until later this year. Android and iOS will work out of the box AND be able to play against each other.

Posted project update #15JaJa Update
Hi All,
Apologies for the infrequent updates, I have a LOT to do, including managing the corporate side of things. Rest assured that our products are on the way to market and you will be thrilled with the results. We have a former Belkin product manager on the team, together with two very experienced industrial designers, several software guys, social marketing guy and a web design team and myself overseeing it all.
Our intention is to make JaJa perfect, I only want 5 star reviews - that takes a little time and a lot of concentration! :-)
Here is a quick run down of what we have been up to since my last update.
1. Finalised electronic design - see image below - I have included a micro sim so you get an idea of the size.

the sensor we are using is not visible in this photo because I'd like to keep that confidential. The sensor has been selected, tested and preordered, I have 10 of them on hand for testing and calibration. We had assumed that quantities would not be a problem but the lead time is going to cause us a delay of 3-6 weeks, we now expect delivery of the finished product to you late in June.
2. Design has needed some minor internal tweaks - if any of you have ever worked on micro electronics and then tried to make it all fit inside a a very small space, and THEN tried to make it all work... you'd understand that these things don't just work first time. Then to top it all off I am demanding extremely high standards of fit and finish. We have gone through several iterations and we are now comfortable that you will get a very high quality product. What you see below is a second to final prototype, metal is not anodised, and the top tube is a printed product, end cap is not inserted.

The final proto will be on the way to us on Friday. The stylus feels brilliant in your hand - you are going to love this thing!
3. Tooling for the plastic parts commenced last week. We expect no further schedule slips once the sensors arrive in factory.
4. SDK has been completed and we are just awaiting the final version with our final frequency tables, which I should get tonight. Our original frequency table design needed a few changes - all fixed now. I'll then send our developers a separate update regarding SDK etc. Remember we use inaudible high frequency sound rather than battery draining Bluetooth, so we have no setup or synching - I think I should be able to show this working fully in the actual stylus body next week.
Website is live at www.jajastylus.com our new company has been setup and will live at www.hex3.co from later today, along with www.laserblaster.com for the AppTag sales. I'll be in China with our industrial designers and product manager for late May and then travelling to see developers and distribution partners around the USA and Europe with our T1/T2. Hopefully visiting Techcrunch Disrupt in NYC too.
Thanks for your continued support

Yeah, but I'm about done with them. It just feels like they're not telling their customers everything they need to regarding the product, yet are asking for us to set aside a kind of steep chunk of money for something we know little about. I really liked my basic jot and was hoping to try out both of this product and that one, but now? I don't know...

Posted project update #14JaJa Stylus Update
Sorry for the infrequent updates - we have been very busy getting both the JaJa Stylus and the AppTag Laser Blaster into production, we have a lot of people asking me "where can I get more?" or "My friend wants one!" etc. I thought I'd let you know that we have the online store up.
We're now accepting pre-orders for the JaJa Pressure Sensitive Stylus - so if you know someone who missed out during the Kickstarter program, or if you want to order more please visit http://www.jajastylus.com and you will be first in line after we ship to our original backers!
NOTE - the shipping date on the website is after our backer shipments go out! There are a surprising number of parts in the stylus and making sure it is going to work flawlessly is a huge job - never-the-less we're confident you will love it when it ships. We'll have some cool things to show off in the next 10 days or so.
If you want an AppTag Laser Blaster the pre-order page for that will be up next week. But for now you can take a look at the latest update on the AppTag Kickstarter page - for some final design images of the AppTag.
If you are interested in distribution please fill in our contact form found at: http://www.jajastylus.com/pages/contact

Updates? An update a day isn't difficult, even if it's a sentence long. I'd be okay with "Finalized shipment rates today", "Order of nibs came in from the manufacturer today", etc. No news is not good news in this case, especially with that recent scam on Kickstarter being caught.

An update a day would be a bit too much but every week or two would be greatly appreciated. if 'nothing happened' it is a bit awkward, but at least stating it would make it known.

Posted project update #9AppTag Update
Sorry it has been a while since my last update. I've been very busy making things perfect for you guys! I plan to over deliver - AppTag is going to be awesome!
You can now pre-order our Pressure Sensitive JaJa stylus from: http://www.jajastylus.com/Very soon you and your friends will be able to order AppTag units from www.laserblaster.com
AppTag Updates - Perfection?
Firstly we have made a 'few' changes to the AppTag design, well ok... we redesigned it completely. I wanted to deliver the best we could, and that meant a lot of work for the awesome design guys! I don't think you will find a better toy, in fact it is too good to be just called a toy now - this thing will be a family heirloom!
We have added the following features:
1. Nearly military spec 3mm polycarbonate and metal construction.
2. Metal rail clamp compatible with all toy accessory rails, Airsoft and military weapon weaver rails, easy adjustment knob.
3. 2 x C batteries for over 100 hours of gameplay.
4. Refined clamp now accepts huge battery pack equipped cases, also super easy to mount phone.
5. Added a reload lever - same as on the HK MP5K - small detail but nice.
6. Enlarged higher power, long range lens.
Anyway - without further ado... I hope you like! Electronics and tooling is underway, we have a few more developers on board - so we'll have a nice suite of games by launch day. AppTag will also be available worldwide from retailers in September.

The stylus is 141mm long, plus the cap if you want to optionally add that to the top end while using the stylus - its 22.8mm. The center of balance is around 80mm from the drawing tip, that is below where the webbing of your hand supports the stylus. WRT questions on balance etc - we have industrial designers working on this with a LOT of experience - and they are artists themselves.

So... based on what I see on that site, does that mean we're pushed back to July now?
Jon, I'd advise caution on this. Brook Drumm (Printrbot project on here) did something similar and got in big trouble from Paypal for taking pre-orders and not shipping. They eventually forced him to start shipping store orders *before* KS backer orders! I think he's still fighting Paypal to get the monies...
