Posted project update #2Affirmation Project Update - Back to the Egg

Creation isn't always linear. It is, oftentimes, a circle, a squiggly line, a pointillist, three (or four!) dimensional, living, breathing entity.Such is the case with The Affirmation Project. Each breath I take is an affirmation of life. It is my nature, your nature, to enjoy this life, and music is but one color of an ever-widening palette of its expression. Colors include dark hues: grays and blacks, shadows and so-called harsh tones. It is all beautiful, and it is all an affirmation.
I continue to receive lots of positive, kind, and enthusiastic feedback about my proposal for this project--from as close as the next city, to another world away, in France. I continue to nurture this baby in mind. When talking to a family friend about this project, he exclaimed, "Wow, only $2,700? That's easy!" He was a performing/touring artist back in the day, and recording and distributing a full project for under $3K, let alone doing it on your own, was beyond a faint dream to him back then.
So I do continue to be encouraged in this "gestation period."
Recently I was able to make a small donation to a fellow artist who's distributing her work, and I know I've devoted a lot of my time in years previous to helping other artists with free promotion, full-fledged podcasts promoting their work, and being, basically, an artist-nurturer of sorts. Aside from my spreading the word about my project, I have a strong feeling that I have good "art-karma."
From what I've seen at Kickstarter, I feel like a bit of an anomaly. I'm not asking for funding to complete a project, but rather to begin one. I have a vast body of work showcasing what I've done with others, and yet only one professionally-recorded work that I wrote, composed, played/sang on, and recorded on my own (Stay in Love, the song I'm promoting and sharing at this site).
The message of "Stay in Love" continues to apply. No matter what happens, stay in a love space. Continue to have the faith to see it through. I'm feeling good about it, and I see progress is happening. I've received a swell of feedback about my music even in the past week, and I continue to ask for support in the funding of new work. You can support me even by spreading the word about my efforts.
I Affirm that The Affirmation Project, this healthy baby, is now being born, and I envision that it is successfully funded and sees the light of day, indelibly inspiring others to find their own healing, growth, and affirmation. And so it is!Be Well,

Posted project update #1The Affirm-Who Project?
Post CommentA lot of folks aren't familiar with what affirmations are, and yet we make them everyday. Many authors, pundits, personalities, workshop leaders, many you's, many me's, we all definite it differently.
in my mind, an affirmation is a statement of any sort that is made manifest in our world, reflecting our strong desires and intentions. If you're New Agey, you may have heard it in "The Secret," punk rockers blurt it out and change the shape of the world with their not so silent screams...and there's a reason why they call Soul songs "baby makin' music."
I'd been wondering what would be most fitting for my "someday album," it was always going to be recorded "tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow," and I have finally come to realize that, too, is an affirmation. Always keeping the birth of it outside myself.
So the affirmation project, too, is an experiment. It's an experiment in Staying in Love, standing strong in my pure intention, cultivating my desire to see the project born, stoking the fire, and watching the great results unfold.
Folks have told me so often that they enjoy my artistic body of work, and I realize I've recorded projects and singles mostly and mainly in collaboration.
The Affirmation Project is a baby with a 90 day gestation period. I'm raising her on a steady diet of affirmative thoughts.
I Affirm that The Affirmation Project, this healthy baby, is now being born, and I envision that it is successfully funded and sees the light of day, indelibly inspiring others to find their own healing, growth, and affirmation. And so it is!
Be Well,
