NEW INCENTIVE ADDED TO $75.00 AND ABOVE!!!

My good friend, sculptor and fellow animator Mike Fleming Jr. Has sculpted this miniature bust of my character Grimm from Curse Of The Wolfs Heart.

He’s producing a limited edition run of unpainted resin casts and is donating them to support this project!

I’m adding them as a bonus incentives to the $75 level! Everyone who donates $75 or above will get one of these awesome little heads by Mike jr!

    Thank you Mike!

Here's Mike's site if you would like to check out more of his work - http://www.mflemjr.com/index.html

    FINISHING FACES & CONTEMPLATING HANDS

We’re up from 5% to 9% … You guys (and girls) rock!!!

Three more faces to paint and detail, then I’m on to ... maybe hands. Now that I've painted up these faces, I really want to try make a new set of hands out of latex.

I’ve already made a set out of silicone and that worked work fine, but I’m not really set up to paint silicone. The paints for silicone are semi-expensive, and at least right now I shouldn't be spending any extra money.

I am however, set up paint foam latex, and I’m really liking the way the skin is looking on this character.

I think a pair of hands painted up to match would be really cool.

    $440 ON THE FIRST DAY

I’m 5% funded already! I’m super happy with how well we did the first day. Thanks to everyone who turned up to pledge!

I stayed up all last night, and today, contacting everyone I know, and everyone whose ever bought anything from me, telling them what I’m trying to do and asking for their help.

As big as my social circle & client base is, and its semi-huge after the last four years of selling art on the net, I don’t think its going to be enough to fund the full eight-thousand.

I’m going to have to figure out a way to pull in outsiders, and spread the word to people that have never heard of Jeff Lafferty.

If you guys have any ides, help me brainstorm this.

I want this to work, and not just for me, but for all the other awesome stop-motion projects out there, that I hope will take heart and be inspired by my success … and hopefully, will follow right after me and get their own projects funded!

Alright, I’ll step off the soapbox and tell you what I did today, besides promote the campaign.

I got one of the lower replacements faces 100% painted.

He looks a little creepy with no eyelids and the weird expression ... I think it’s the ‘ee’ ‘ah’ and ‘uh’ sound, but anyway, I’m super happy with the way this character is shaping up!

I’m looking forward to shooting a lip-sync once the other seven faces are done, and getting some test footage of him talking and emoting.

    $8000 IN TWENTY-NINE DAYS

Well, I launched it! Make that $7,950, since I’ve already got $50

I figure $8000 will get me six months of working exclusively on the film. Hopefully by then I’ll be able fan this tiny little spark into a brush fire.

Hopefully, the project will gain attention, gain momentum and gain a vast and loyal audience.

By then, maybe … just maybe, I’ll be able to monetize that audience with DVD, book and original art sales. Along with ad clicks here on the site and on my youtube videos ... and maybe I’ll be able to keep going.

Its all just one big pipe dream and is probably impossible… I know it,

…. But if I would of listened to that scared little voice telling me a can’t do it, I would of never gotten this far with the animation … for that matter I would of never learned to draw or paint, and never became an artist!

… probably never would of got my wife to marry me either, or accomplished anything else great in my life.

Impossible? … well it seems like everything I've done, that’s been worth doing, was ‘supposedly’ impossible at one time.

So, I guess sign me up for the impossible then.
