Posted project update #15We hit our goal!
As of yesterday, we hit 100% of our goal! THANK YOU to everyone that has pledged and helped spread the word. We've got SIX more days to keep fundraising, and there are still plenty of cool rewards available. Anything raised now is the icing on the Go Home Paddy cake and will allow me to spend that much more time finishing and promoting the Graphic Novel.
Thank you all soooooo much!

Posted project update #14How KICKSTARTER got me in the door to THE GOLDEN BRIDGES EVENT
Running a (hopefully) successful Kickstarter campaign entails spending A LOT of time promoting your project. Press Releases, Facebook and LinkedIn updates, emails and Tweets all play a part in trying to get people interested in your project. All of the promotion that I've been doing regarding the Go Home Paddy Kickstarter Campaign has led me to making many new connections, but at times, it can feel like you're just blasting out information into a void. But then....lightening strikes!Post CommentI was invited to attend the opening night of The Irish Echo's Golden Bridges Event by Irish Echo Publisher and Sinn Feinn Councillor for the Balmoral area of Belfast Máirtín Ó Muilleoir. Besides the invite, Máirtín gave me the opportunity to add a press release for the Kickstarter campaign to the packets that were given to each and every attendee (you can see the design of the press release below). Máirtín went out of his way to introduce me to various people, including representatives of both the cities of Donegal and Derry back in Ireland, as well as a few prominent Irish-American movers and shakers like Sean Moynihan of The Moynihan Group and the Boston Irish Business Association and Sean Grant, the former director of the Irish Cultural Center here in Massachusetts. I was thrilled to meet so many intelligent and kind people who are all so deeply interested in Ireland and the country's diaspora. As an aside, let me say that the Derry 2013 Campaign sounds like a wonderful time and I would love to get the chance to head over and attend the celebrations. Those running the campaign, including the AWESOME Shona McCarthy, have some inspiring plans for Derry 2013! It was a wonderful night for a guy like me and I'll always be thankful to Máirtín for the opportunity to attend.
How does all of this tie back into Kickstarter? Well, to be completely honest, I think that running a Kickstarter campaign adds a level of credibility to oneself and their creative endeavor. You're not just saying, "Look at my project", but instead you're saying "Look at my project and ALL OF THE BACKERS that's my project has gained." The fact that you've mounted this campaign, were approved to run it on Kickstarter, and have attained the pledges of those interested in your project are all seen as a big vote of confidence in your work. And the cache of credibility that Kickstarter provides you can help you have a night like I did at the Golden Bridges Event!
And of course, SEVEN DAYS LEFT to the end of this campaign! PLEASE continue to spread the word so that my goal can be reached. Thanks to all!

Posted project update #13The Best Pitch for the Go Home Paddy Kickstarter Campaign yet
Post CommentAnd it comes to us courtesy of New York Times cartoonist (and Go Home Paddy backer) Brain McFadden. He writes:
"And it’s not just a story for us Boston micks. Anti-immigrant fervor is still everywhere in this country, although the xenophobes’ ire has shifted from us potato-boilers to brown folks who actually know how to make food that tastes good."
Classic.
