    2/9/12 Let the recording begin!

Hello all! I'll be in the studio in the next two weeks recording the first tracks of the new album! The first 5 songs I'm going to work on are: SHE'S HERE - This is a song I've written for my niece Civi when she was born in 2006. It happened quite effortlessly and was complete in about 48 hours. It is a short but beautiful piece that I play often at gigs. THERE HE GOES - This is a tune I wrote for my nephew Lejend after he was born in 2008. Originally the song was completely different, and it was taking me quite a long time to craft. Lucky for me actually, because once I met him and got to know his personality I realized he definitely needed a different song. He was too mischievous for a beautiful lullaby! TWIZZLE - A really fun spontaneous song that allows a lot of room for improvisation. It never happens the same way twice so I'm hoping to capture it well in the studio. LI'L BRAT - Another fun tune that reminds me of a bratty little kid. Must've been what I was channeling when I wrote it I guess. Not far from my alter-ego actually. PAPAYA - I started writing this song after a week long meditation festival/retreat in Brazil. I had my guitar along because I was asked to play music for the production of the play on the last day of the festivities - for 3000 people! During a couple days of travel after the festival was done, we ventured over to Illabelle(beautiful Island) just off the coast of Sao Sebastao. The pousada(Porto Pousada - in case you go)was built into the trees and the hillside like a Swiss Family Robinson style tree house. The deck overlooked the bay towards the main land with a large tree growing through the center of it. There were exotic birds everywhere, and delicious fruits dominated the menu. I spent the better part of that day soaking up the view. At breakfast many parrots and multi-colored birds joined us and ate the Papayas left out for them on the railing of the deck. This song was inspired by it all. - - First session is on Feb 17th with two more sessions the following week! Be talking to you soon. Many thanks! ~Jason

    1/6/12 Project Timeline

Happy New Year everyone!  I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and New Year's celebration in whatever fashion you chose to do it!  Now that the New Year is here and the holiday bustle is over I'm getting down to business. I'm looking toward the Spring when I'll have a brand new cd in hand!

I've set my basic timeline for the project with an expected finish date of May 1st.  I hope to have the cd at that time.  Here is the basic timeline I've set for the backbone of the project to be executed.  There are many other details to tend to along the way but these are the major milestones I hope to accomplish.  I've worked the plan backwards like a farmer with crops:

May 1st- 15th  Send out Kickstarter rewards

May 1st CD Arrival at my home!(T-shirts too)

April 15th Final CD Sent to Print

April 1st T-shirts sent to print

March 15th Send music to be Mastered

March 1-15 Finish Mixing

    March 1st Finish Recording

    Jan-Feb Practice! Practice! Record!

I'm working on the songs now, getting them ready for recording by practicing at home as well as playing them at performances to "get the bugs out".  I hope to have the studio(s) identified by the end of January, so that February can be fully geared toward recording.

I will keep you updated as things move forward.  Thank you very much!

    ~Jason

    Hello all,

Just got back from Oregon Thanksgiving trip...had wonderful weather, spent a lot of family time, went hiking, played an impromptu holiday house concert, explored Portland and played a bunch of frisbee golf all in one week!  I hope you all had a nice holiday with your own closest friends and family.

$3332 pledged with 7 days to go!  I am so deeply grateful for your support of this project and I'm getting really excited to put things into gear and make this new album happen.  Keep your fingers crossed this last week and keep sending some new album thoughts my way until Thursday, Dec. 8th at 9:49am!

Thank you again for your generosity!
