Posted project update #6UPDATE: Why I have Cancelled Funding (good news).
Post CommentDear Friends,
I am grateful that you were willing to put your money on me and this project. I also want to let you know that your faith was not unwisely placed. This will succeed. This experience has taught me a few critical lessons with Kickstarter:
- Luck may play a part, but it's NOT the key factor.
- You must be prepared to promote, promote, promote (which I was not).
- You MUST be ready for "life" to hit you between the eyes and be able to proceed forward with greater tenacity and dedication, regardless of the circumstances.
- Make your goal simple, upfront and clear!
- Make sure your video is informative, fun, upbeat and positive!!
- Rewards should be clear, affordable with great value, AND something people want to talk about.
- You must have (or establish) a formidable network that knows you, believes in you and is willing to support you in your endeavor. Unfortunately, I did not (other than you good, kind friends).
There are other valuable things I've learned form this, but that list became the crux of my experience and I was grateful for it. It makes what comes next even better, more exciting and assures me that we are that much closer to success!
I hope you'll stay with me as we launch something even greater...
By April 1st, we will be releasing a Novel Preview: Prelude to a Hero. Nine (9) chapters from the novel itself in .PDF, KINDLE and NOOK formats and offered for FREE. Our goal is to start up another Kickstarter campaign, but with new vigor, goals, strategies and rewards that make more sense.
The future is brighter than ever!!
That's why we ask you to stay with us and re-pledge when we open the new campaign in harmony with our new website and look!
An epic adventure is about to begin, which will change the lives of readers.
Prepare yourself.

Posted project update #5Revamped WANTED:HERO website LIVE for FUN!
Post CommentSo it's been since 2004 that we launched a website and it's gone through many changes.
I'm proud to say we have the biggest plans ever...which starts with a new look, a new feel and a new series of podcasts, artwork, tools and gifts for visitors to the site.Check it out: http://www.wantedhero.com
The first reaction we got within 10 hours was FREAKIN WOW! That was by a 16 year old fan who had not been to the site in a week.
We are far from done and it will take some time to update all of this material--but 2011 looks like it's going to be more fun that we ever imagined! So stop on buy, check us out and if you haven't told anyone about the novel project, I'd be very grateful if you did.
Regardless, stop by the site. We will be putting up more conceptual art as time rolls on, wallpaper and more, all FREE so don't pass it up...and bring a friend.
God Bless.

Posted project update #31% Funded! waHOO!!
SwEEt! We are 1% funded and only 52 days to go! Oh, I'm feeling SO optimistic!!
Just finished another chapter with Kathilynn and this story keeps getting better. Got back two reviews of the last draft and only two changes were offered. That's fantastic!
This has been in creation since 1990 and has been told to thousands of children. I think that's an important thing to realize, those who have pledged. This isn't something new. Well, it's a new project and it's a book, not a comic book--but the story isn't new. You are giving new wings to something that was growing in success until I lost the use of my hands! You are reawakening something that was powerful in comic book form. Now it's time to get this into print, with the entire storyline intact.
Because you pledged, a story with 13 worlds, governments, races, magic, technology, mythology and a cranky, senile old wizard who can't remember his name will be put into print!!
May I say...you're awesome :D.
I look forward to sending you these rewards, but do you know what I am looking forward to even more? Bragging about you by name on our websites. Being able to tell people that YOU helped make this possible and were a key in bringing this first novel to youth and the young at heart.
I hope you'll tell a friend or two about this project. I can use all the help possible in spreading the word!!
God Bless.

Posted project update #2Week One: Moving Quickly
Post CommentThe first week has been exciting and challenging at the same time! Several versions of the movie have been uploaded with a few frames not coming through clearly. However, it plays well and I hope lends to the project and it credibility.
Kathi and I have completed another 3 chapters of the final revision this week. This has me stoked!! To finally have all the details, the maps, the genealogy, the myths, legends and the complicated weaving of multiple worlds finally in a complete story has me beside myself!!! This week will be dedicated to setting up the work structure and reorganizing the office to cater to a full time Wanted Hero focus while I also start working on our main site (getting it updated).
Several of the Gnomes from Clockworks have contacted me, asking if they can do another video, where they interview me. I wasn't sure about that and I don't know if these communications were approved by Motherboard. It's always a crap shoot when Gnomes get involved. Their over-enthusiasm can quickly turn to chaos if not managed carefully and I didn't want to change what we're doing here on Kickstarter if the current film is working.
The thought occurred to me that we might have them do a video and simply post it on YouTube or www.wantedhero.com. If it got interest, then we could place it on KS as well.
Thank you for your pledges. Every dollar counts. So does your recommendation to others.
While you're at it--make sure you go to www.wantedhero.com and download some free eComics to read! Get to know this story and then help us make it better!! -

Posted project update #1The Race Begins!
Post CommentI just couldn't go to bed until this project was finally launched! Going over each detail and making sure we provided the very best rewards was critical and everything finally felt 'right'. So I pushed the button and the timer started (enter twilight zone music).
Not only are we going to succeed, we are going to go above and BEYOND--so that we have the money to provide the very best in everything. The books, the equipment, the promotions and most importantly: the Rewards!!
I hope you will help us spread the word about this project and ask others to pledge right along with you!
Editing will start on the video tomorrow morning and I will get that posted as quickly as possible!God Bless. Jaime Buckley

LOL, ...should have said only two changes were 'suggested', not offered =).
Regardless, the novel is marching forward.
