Posted project update #5We are the Champions of the World!
Post CommentCongratulations to the New York Yankees - the best burger that a lot of money can buy - on their World Series victory and to us on passing our $3,000 goal. Yes, we self-congratulate. That's what being an Internets Celebrity is all about.
There's less than 24 hours left to go on the fundraising and we just added some new incentives for people who want to get in on this before closing time.
1) For a pledge of $10 or more you can buy one of our three Kickstarter invites. You can then use this service to help fundraise for your projects.
2) For a pledge of $15 or more the Internets Celebrities will record a custom outgoing voicemail message for you.
3) $100 buys lunch with the IC's. This is the smart shopper's alternative to our fancy $500 sit-down dinner option. We may not even be sitting as we have lunch but we will have good cheap eats and priceless conversation.
Also, in these closing hours, on any pledge of $20 or more for any incentive we'll also throw in our dvd "We Left Our Mother's Basement" featuring 6 of our finest videos in uncompressed, off the internets glory.
Thanks again for helping us reach our goal! We're gonna make one hell of a video for you good people.

Posted project update #4Special Weekend Pledge Incentive: 2009 Music Mix!
Post CommentFor this weekend only, if you donate $25 for our new movie, not only will you reap the bounty of our local bodega, we will throw in an IC mix of our favorite music from this year.
Kick in $25 like Omar, Justin Rouch and Matt Wheeler just did and you could get a whole mix of songs as good as Combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell.

Posted project update #2Seats of Gold by Wright Thompson
Post CommentWe came across this fantastic article at ESPN.com where sportswriter Wright Thompson describes the absurdity of seeing a game at the new Yankees stadium with a $1200 baseball ticket. Thompson also explains how Wall Street corruption created this market and how Wall Street's downfall depleted it just in time for the opulent new facility to open its doors.
What we're left with are empty seats and a franchise snubbing the common man, at the same time it takes his money. We're left more than a bit worried for the future of our beloved sport.
This is a must read! And I wonder if Thompson is available for an interview with us...

Posted project update #1Root, root, root for the home team
This past spring in NYC while we were shooting Vend Diagram we encountered this ESPN World Baseball Classic street team. They told us we could have one of these WBC shirts to share if we sang "Take Me Out to the Ball Game', but we nailed the performance so they gave in and rewarded our childlike innocence and love of the game with a second shirt. We knew exactly what to do with these souvenirs representing the world's love of baseball.

Rumur on October 31, 2009
did you see/hear the wnyc report about how all of the local small businesses are being crushed by the new stadium- because it's like a huge mall - and all the trains and parking flow directly inside- so many fewer people go past the local businesses that depend on the stadium- might be a good idea to take a camera and visit a few of these places.

Thanks Rumur! We've noticed similar stories at Village Voice and elsewhere. That's a good suggestion on going into the surrounding businesses.
