Post CommentHello friends!
Because of your generosity and love, JoyScout has begun the preproduction for our debut record this week! We'll be updating you with photos and behind-the-scenes videos of our band's studio experience throughout the music-making. Until then, we have a big announcement!
As promised, one lucky backer has won an original oil painting by EKB. Nicki T did the the blind selecting (as seen in the video below) moments ago and the winner is.....
MIchelle Cook!!!
Michelle, we will be in touch with you this week to work out the details and get the art to you asap! Thanks to everyone for participating in our KickStarter. We are thrilled to see this project get off the ground. Your contribution has made this moment possible.

Posted project update #4JoyScout Update # 4: A Song About Friendship Uploading...
With only 8 full days left in the KickStarter campaign, JoyScout's Emily Kate Boyd and Nicki Thrailkill take a break from rehearsal to make a music video. Watch this live home recording of Nicki and EKB singing and original JoyScout song about friendship:
"I need your mercy, need your love
I need you to remember words.
If I ever seem to forget my lines,
Tell me good times won't let laughter die"

Posted project update #3EKB's Nephew, Will Jolly, Wrote a Song For JoyScout!!!
Post CommentMany of you have asked this question: why did you set your KickStarter goal lower than you needed to actually make the record? Answer: we're idiots. Just Kidding. Actually, here's the truth - we've been planning to go into the studio in the last week of January because that is when the producers are available to track. We are also going on the road in support of our friend Gareth Asher on his Spring tour starting in late February. We knew we didn't have enough time to do a big KickStarter campaign, so we shot for a low number that would at the very least cover the costs of the first week in the studio.
Had we known we would reach our goal in less than 14 days, we would have used a different strategy. So, what does it actually cost to make the record?
It costs $8,800. We have $2,600.
We are SO blessed to have what we have. And we will stretch every penny of it to start this project. But to finish it, we need more.
My nephew, Will Jolly, decided he would help us spread the message of our campaign and wrote a song about it. I LOVED it so much we (me, will and anna kate) made a video today. We've been snowed in like the rest of Chattanooga this week, and I am so grateful for the family time this blizzard has given me. We had a blast making this video. Check it out!
Thank you so much for your love and contribution,
Emily
