    Laser cutting complete, shipping imminent

    Hello backers,

Sorry the updates have been sparse recently, but we're getting incredibly close to actually shipping Physical GIF to you at long last.

In the last couple of weeks, we picked up the plexi parts from the laser cutter, we've ordered the last small components (screws, packaging, etc) and we've begun packing things for shipment. We're hoping that packages will hit the mail in the next week or two. We really appreciate your patience on this and can't wait for you to get your GIFs.

Below are some pictures from the recent stages of the process. First, Scott with Igal, one of our Laser Operators, and the stack of lasercut disks.

Here's a view into one of the packages of Elephant-Rabbit parts.

PGIF parts split up into sets and getting ready to be packaged for shipping:

Look for another update soon as we finalize the instructions that will accompany each set and move towards shipping!

Thanks, as always, for your support,

    Greg and Scott

    Manufacturing has finally begun

First of all, thanks again for your patience and understanding as we've worked out the kinks to make sure we'll be shipping quality rewards. After many struggles and false starts, the right plexi has finally arrived and we found a solid partnership with a studio in Brooklyn to complete the laser cutting work. Physical GIF's are finally taking shape.

Below are a few pics. Plexi, the studio, and images of the test cuts from the laser. (Precision with laser cutting differs from laser to laser. Our initial test-cut last night was a failure, the pieces did not fit into the slots. And, the file used was the exact same file we used before, but on a different laser. So, adjustments were made, which is to say, the slot was increased by .007 of an inch, and...presto, a nice fit.  The name is GIF, Physical GIF.)

So, we expect to start shipping rewards in the weeks ahead.

    Thanks again.

Hi Brady, We've been repeatedly delayed due to issues around finding the right quality of plastic. We had some failed manufacturing tests that derailed the process and it took us awhile to get back on track. We put the plexi order in before the new year and it should arrive this week. We really appreciate your patience with us. This is the first time we've done anything like this and we're learning a lot. yours, Greg

    Production delayed but imminent

    Hello backers,

I know it's been awhile since you've heard from us and many of you are wondering when your Physical GIF will be arriving. I want to sincerely apologize for the delay and let you know what's going on and when your GIFs will be available. We encountered a manufacturing difficulty and now plan to ship your GIFs in January.

A month ago we nearly placed an order for all of the plexi and cutting services required to produce your Physical GIFs. We've already ordered and received the strobes so acquiring and cutting the plexi is the last step in production. Unfortunately, we discovered a problem with the plexi from our vendor when we performed a test cut. Something was wrong with it. The Physical GIF piece cracked and broke when we attempted to insert them into our slots. We went back and forth repeatedly with the manufacturer trying to deal with the problem.

We have now chosen another vendor and are expecting a test piece this week. Assuming the new plastic stock works successfully with our cutting process, we will begin cutting in December.

We thank you for your patience and look forward to keeping you up to date on developments and on sending out your GIFs soon!

    yours,

    Greg and Scott
