The Gopher Illustrated
Posted project update #6Hello Friends!
Post CommentWe've had a wild couple of months here at the Gopher basement. We've been working like maniacs to improve the magazine, constantly finding new ways to make the issue you are about to receive super-epic! In the meantime, we found our printer, an amazing facility in Bogotá that does incredible work, figured out the logistics of this whole international operation, creating an online shop in Gopher webspace, and have been plotting our second issue (and are reviewing some incredible submissions - send yours in!)
Here are some awesome things to look forward to:
- A typography and illustration catalog (of sorts): Every title for every piece feature in the magazine was commissioned to a different designer, illustrator, foundry, or artist somewhere in the world. Contributors range from up-and-coming talents to full on rockstars.
- A cool special ink: Throughout this issue we're using a very beautiful fluorescent ink. A lot of custom artwork was created around this ink addition, and every issue of The Gopher will feature a different custom color.
- Sticker art - limited edition, beautiful stickers that will ensure you dominate the playground, get picked first for kickball and have the most tricked-out Trapper Keeper ever. Your office is like that too, yes?
Anyways, we're scheduled to print next week and magazines should be on their way about ten days after. Very exciting stuff.
Thank you very much for your patience!
Abrazos,
Michu & Lope -

Posted project update #5Very last day!
Post CommentHoly moly! Our project is now in its last few hours!
For the past few months we have been joyfully working on this first issue of the Gopher, themed "Stuff of Legends." Now, we won't ruin the surprises for you, but the magazine is looking quite gorgeous and we can't wait to have it all ready and printed and on its way to all your mailboxes. We still have a few hours left and we hope to continue receiving contributions so we can print the best darn collectible, sticker-filled, meticulous, fun and smart magazine you've ever seen.
In the meantime, we're constantly putting features, interviews, music and brief link-posts on our website [ http://gopherillustrated.org ], posting stuff on our twitter [ twitter.com/gophermagazine ] and receiving your lovely emails. We are also receiving submissions on a rolling basis - it is our favoritest part of the week - and take the opportunity to reach out to all you brilliant creators out there. Please write us with proposals, articles, portfolios, music, reviews, jokes, stories and whatnot: submissions@gopherillustrated.org.
Through this project we've had the opportunity to meet some incredible people and see some incredible projects come to life. We continue to be amazed by this community full of dreamers, doers and supporters.
Thank you very much for everything!

Hi Ian, Thank you very much! The magazine will most likely ship from Miami, Fl and is priced at $16 retail. If you'd like to contribute via Kickstarter there you will also get a handwritten letter, a surprise "thingy" a digital version of the magazine and your name in the issue.

Posted project update #430 days!
Post CommentHello There!
There are only (only?) 30 days left! A nice round number to be sure, and - we think - a great time to ask for your continued and extended support!
We just received what we think is going to be our cover for the first issue: an original piece by artist Mario Wagner made especially for the Gopher. We also have a very cool new story by a surprise author in the theme section of the magazine, a piece we are sure you are going to love!
A month away from our deadline, we are very touched by your support. Continue to support us through the end of the funding period. Tell your friends to support us too! Send us emails; we love emails! Follow us on twitter.com/gophermagazine, get in touch through facebook [http://www.facebook.com/gopherillustrated]. Your magazine will be on its way in no time!

Posted project update #3Interview? Well, yes, of course.
Post CommentHello there (ere... ere... ere...)
We are hard at work on the magazine, working with our designer, sending emails and editing until the wee hours. It's heaven. Thank you very much to everyone who has contributed thus far, the Gopher is looking good!
Anyways, a few days ago we interviewed Kickstarter Co-Founder Yancey Strickler and posted said interview on our website. We thought you might like to check it out:

Abrazos,
