    Not Goodbye....

Hey everyone! As you can see, the Kickstarter was unsuccessful. However, we aren't packing up and going home! This is NOT goodbye!

We may launch another Kickstarter for Burst! in the future, however right now we are working with the 406 Club here in Great Falls to bootstrap the money through monthly events. The first event raised just under $1,000.00 so we hope to use that to produce a playable prototype by April 21st (that's the date of the STEM Expo here). We're doing another silent auction at the 406 Club on April 7th as part of their Zombie Show, so come out and say hi!

Thanks again! Your guys' support means a lot! Burst! is happening, so please follow me on Twitter (www.twitter.com/ZookeyTK) or check out our site periodically (www.teamkaizengames.com) to see the latest on Burst!, Shattered Soul and the other projects we're working on!!!

Thanks David. I don't know who this guy is---I don't have millions of dollars or a Mercedes for sure. I understand the internet has some pretty damn evil people on it but this is a new low (plus how wussy of him to claim to cower as if I'd do something to him besides write CBS (owners of Giant Bomb) over the slander claim--worse case scenario he gets banned and just makes a new ID!!). I see some people were slamming you there too for giving us the heads up so thanks for being brave enough to deal with that kind of crap. Regardless, we're working with several indie musicians and a venue in our area and are just going to bootstrap Burst!'s development--we hope to have something showable by the STEM Expo here in Great Falls later next month :-)

    A Taste of What's Coming

Hey everyone! Josh here again! As you can probably see, we're doing decent at $388.00 pledged but not close to our $6,500.00 goal and we have 12 days left. I just wanted to throw out there that, for us, it's do or die and dying ain't an option!

With that in mind, the 406 Club (who is hosting the benefit for Burst! this Friday) has already said they'll throw 1 benefit a month to bootstrap the development costs for Burst! if this Kickstarter falls through. As far as we're concerned, your support means the world to us even if it doesn't translate to a successful Kickstarter. In light of that, we will still put your names in the credits of the final version regardless of whether this Kickstarter is successful or not!

We also changed our gameplan a tad on the UDK side. We're already doing one project in UDK (Shattered Soul, our fighting game we'll show more publicly of soon!) and we've been in situations of potential collaboration with other companies who asked if we had Unity experience on top of UDK. Individuals on our team have previous Unity experience, but as a team we hadn't tried it yet. So, to show we can rock it in both UDK and Unity, we're keeping Shattered Soul in Unreal (UDK) and moving Burst! to Unity.

Some early testwork is already done, one of our artists (Jake Lietz) put together the following test video:

    http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=2748206156443

That's just a taste of what's to come :-) MUCH more is on the way! One way or another, Burst! is going to get made!

See How Burst!'s Flash Beta Got Made!

Hey everyone! Josh Hughes here from Team KAIZEN! Thanks again for your support of Burst!.

As you know, you can play a Flash based proof of concept of Burst! at www.teamkaizengames.com --well, now you can see the process that went into making it!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tma4iZYdiJA

That's the link to our video In the Game, a pitch for a new reality-tv style web series that shows what it's like to be an indie start up game studio in Montana. Please watch it and let us know what you think! Special thanks to Steve Dassatti's Pink Eye Productions for helping us pull this off! In the video, you see what the original version of Burst! looked like and you get to see the recording session where M-79 re-recorded Bad Battery Door for us!

    Thanks!

    Benefit for Burst!

Hey everyone! Below is taken from the KAIZEN blog over at www.teamkaizengames.com :-) We're throwing a benefit for Burst! and, in the announcement, we let loose the names of some of the bands who will be featured in the final game! Most of the mentioned bands will actually be performing at the benefit, and links galore are included so check them all out and hear some new music!

Hey everyone! As you know we’re currently running a Kickstarter to try and raise $6,500.00 for the development of Burst! in current-generation tech! (link: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/gfgames/burst-the-indie-rhythm-game-for-indie-unsigned-mus). This new version of Burst! will include many more bands as well as 3D visuals and enhancements galore over our web based version!

Well, the 406 Club here in Great Falls (5515 2nd Avenue North) found out about Burst! and wanted to help! The 406 Club caters to indie musicians in our area and offered to set up a benefit to help raise money for the Kickstarter!

So, mark your calendars for March 23rd because, at 7 PM that day, several area musicians will take the stage in support of Burst! and the coming together of indie musicians and indie game designers! All bands performing that night will be featured in the final version of Burst! and the line up includes:

    From Great Falls

    Helligans - http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Helligans/207977985897416

    M-79 - http://www.facebook.com/MSEVENNINE?ref=ts

    Black Market Assassin - http://www.facebook.com/BlackMarketAssassin

    Better Words For A Farewell - http://www.facebook.com/betterwordsforafarewell

    From Missoula

    With Second Chances Broken

    From Conrad

    Hell City Kitty - http://www.facebook.com/pages/Hell-City-Kitty/175305445839410?ref=ts

Not only will those bands be featured in Burst!, but also we’re pleased to announce that USA’s Chris Contreras (hip-hop http://soundcloud.com/beta76) and UK’s Dead by Dawn (metalhttp://www.facebook.com/deadbydawnmetal?ref=ts) will also be featured in the final version alongside Great Falls based electronica artist Ed Worrell (http://soundcloud.com/blindworrell)!

The event on the 23rd kicks off at 7 PM and will feature silent auctions alongside the music. Cost to get in is$2 for people over 21 and $5 for under 21. We’re also raffling off a guitar that will be signed by all the performers! Tickets for the raffle are 1 for $5 and 5 for $20 and will be available at the event as well as ahead of time at the 406 starting tomorrow (you can also call me 406-868-2140 and I can drive over raffle tickets). The raffle does not require the winner be present to win, so if you have alternate plans for the 23rd please feel free to buy tickets without worrying about losing out!

We’re extremely excited to partner with the 406 Club on highlighting the local independent artists from both the game design and musician perspective and hope you all join us for an awesome night!
