    The shirts are here!

Good news everyone! I picked up the shirts from the printer today.

They look and feel great. Especially the white ones -- the ink on the burnout material really has that photocopied / censored text feeling.

Here's a photo from the printers, Kayrock in Greenpoint:

I'm hoping to start delivering the shirts soon. There are a couple loose ends to tie up: ordering envelopes from USPS, picking a timeframe to have people come by Kickstarter HQ to pick them up, I'll be posting an update soon, but just wanted to share with you the news.

Excellent! Also pleased that you're using Kayrock -- they do wonderful work, I've got a number of their posters.

    We won! For now.

If you backed this project, I probably don't need to tell you the good news: SOPA & PIPA have died the slow death of delayed congressional legislation. If you haven't heard: Good news! Its very unlikely that SOPA & PIPA will pass in any recognizable form. Your t-shirt is now a part of history.

And while its unclear what the MPAA's next move is (besides admitting to bribing politicians), my next move is getting our shirts printed.

Over the weekend, I placed the wholesale order for the blank shirts. They are currently on their way to the screen printers in Brooklyn. Once they arrive, I'll finalize the art, get two shirts proofed, and then start the printing.

    More soon!

SOPA is on the Ropes, Surveys are sent out and I'm ready to bulk order some blank T-shirts. Oh and a graph.

A lot has been happening this week in PIPA/SOPA news.

On Saturday, the White House issued a statement on PIPA/SOPA which the New York Times considered all but killed them and which also ruffled Rupert Murdoch's feathers.

On Sunday morning, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian was on MSNBC's Up debating  NBC's General Counsel Rick Cotton on the bill. The segment is worth watching just for Chris Hayes' excellent intro on the issues at hand. Good for sending to parents and other people who have been living under Internet rocks (side note: Google Image search has no idea what an Internet rock is). There are also good discussions about the MSNBC debate happening on Hacker News and Google+.

Also from the hey-mainstream-media-is-finally-paying-attention-dept: The New York Times has posted 2 pieces on SOPA in the last 24 hours, here, and here. Great job guys!

On Wednesday at 12:30pm in NYC, there will be a IRL protest organized by the New York Tech Meetup at Chuck Schumer's office in midtown. RSVP here to join the 900 other people already planning on attending. RedditBoingBoing, and others are planning sitewide blackouts on Wednesday as well.

So I'm cautiously optimistic -- SOPA and PIPA have turned politically toxic and next week we'll get to see more fallout. Keep the pressure up.

I'm also really excited so many of you filled out the survey for this project. I'm still waiting to hear on 9 backers, so I'm going to give them a couple more days.

62 of you (!!!) indicated you'd like to come by Kickstarter HQ to pick up the shirts when they're ready. That's awesome. So awesome that I'll probably throw a party and invite you. We can all laugh and/or cry together about PIPA/SOPA since hopefully, by then, the bills will be history.

I drew up a graph of the distribution of shirt sizes and colors in R using the ggplot2 library (R code here, you'll have to substitute with your own data.frame).

You'll notice that the white shirts skew towards smaller sizes. I have a hypothesis of why this might be the case: women seemed to prefer the white shirt, and women in general tend to pick smaller sizes on unisex garments. But thats really just a guess based on anecdotal evidence and some random conversations.

    Thanks again for reading!

Very interesting msnbc segment! Thanks for sharing. And I would be curious to see the true breakdown of white-grey/male-female. ;)

    Thanks! Surveys sent.

    Hi everyone,

You should have just received a survey asking for information so I can send you your shirt. I'm hoping to get them printed by the end of January and shipped by early February.

If you'll be in NYC, let me know if you can stop by the Kickstarter offices to pick up the shirt.

Thanks again for your support. I'll be updating this project with news as SOPA and PIPA wind their way through (and hopefully die in) Congress.

I'm in between a medium and a small for most shirts. What kind of shirt will the design be printed on?
