Posted project update #1Three Weeks to Go!
Post CommentHello All!
First and foremost: a great big thank you goes out to all who have pledged already and who believe in this project!
Second: we are three weeks down and have raised almost $1000, but the ball is still a long way off. So... Help spread the word about this! Facebook, Twitter, e-mail, word-of-mouth, carrier pigeon--every little bit helps! Some of you have already been doing this, and I wholeheartedly thank you!
Third: If you haven't already, take time to make some project suggestions on the website Suggestions page. I'll take any advice, from open mic venues to driving routes to audiobooks to listen to in the car.
Tell you what: let's make it to at least $2500 and I'll post a video of myself at a local open mic.
Thank you all again! You are all beautiful people.

Posted project update #4The End?
As you may have noticed, today is Bastille Day, which marks the deadline for the “Eric K. Auld + Musical Comedy Album = No Apocalypse” project. As you may have also noticed, I did not come anywhere close to fundraising the goal I set. As you may not have noticed, I am not too upset about this.
The truth is that about three or four weeks ago, I decided to cease most of the self-promotion I had been conducting on the project. I was going to cancel the project, but I just decided to let it run out on its own. I realize that some may view this as “quitting” or “giving up.” While I was “giving up” on the project itself, however, I was not giving up on the motivation behind the project. My reasons for ceasing the self-promotion?
1.) I set my goal far too high. I realized this about two or three weeks into the project. I originally had shopped around for different recording studios and checked out their options on recording, mixing, mastering, and distribution packages. Why? I don’t know. If anything, I should have just focused on recording before even approaching anything else. Also, I didn’t have to shop around for studios: I have a handful of recording resources through a few of my friends and musical acquaintances, and they have been doing this far longer than I have.
2.) I do not need to record an album right now. I was really jumping the gun on this one. I am still working on developing a live act and I should be focusing on my gigs more than anything else. I am a lonely ol’ one-man band for hire who performs covers and a few original pieces—why a sudden album? I thought that I needed to make one to help promote my live act; after all, other musicians I play with always have an album of their work available—but they’ve been doing this far longer than I have.
I would not like to think that this effort was entirely futile, though. This project gave me the motivation to start promoting myself more, to start writing more original material, to start harnessing my creativity and posting it in video form online, and it even helped me gain a few new fans.
So thank you all for supporting me. I hope that you continue to do so in the future. Stay tuned for more videos, more gigs, and another possible Kickstarter project!

Posted project update #3Jingle with Video Slideshow!
Hey all!
We're about 37 days away from the Eric K. Auld album project deadline now, so I figured it'd be a good enough time to let you listen one of four jingles I plan on professionally recording for the album. I should say POSSIBLE album, since we've still got a long way to go. Let's make it happen: pledge (if you haven't already), watch the video, share the link, and tell your friends!
Some of you may have heard me perform this live before, some of you may have not. Let's hope the people at MCLA haven't.
Keep pledging and spreading the word! You are all beautiful people!
