Posted project update #10The book is finished and at the printers!
Post CommentGreat news everyone, the book is finally complete and the order was sent to the printer this weekend.
A huge huge thanks to the talented visionary Todd Lamb for art directing and editing the final version. A million thank yous also goes out to Michael Galinsky, film maker and photographer, who wrote a wonderful introduction to the book.
With the help of Marisa Handren, super rock star publicist, a press release about this project will be sent to Pitchfork and other media outlets in hopes of getting some publicity. I am planning a book release party for the 2nd week in November. We will most likely have it in Brooklyn, with the location to be announced. For those of you not in the five borough area I'll send your books to you. If you are to receive a collage or cookies, it will all arrive together.
I'll be adding a new section to my website (emilywilsonphotography.com) soon which will allow additional copies to be purchased.

Posted project update #9Revisions
Post CommentHi Everyone,
Even though I am not meeting the September 20th deadline, completion is right around the corner.
I've shown the latest online version to a few people who all express the same opinion that I wasn't giving enough space to some very intriguing/important photos. In an effort to get some fresh eyes, creative direction and produce the best possible book. I meeting with the very talented art director and creator Todd Lamb tomorrow.
If any of you are in the neighborhood of the Ace Hotel and would like to come by and say hello we will be there tomorrow 9/22 around 3:30 in the lobby. If you are a backer who is supposed to receive a collage from the book I have those and can bring some with me to give out.
I'm going to be emailing all those who are to receive a collage to see if you want it now since I have them or wait until the book is finished and get everything at once.
I'm also looking for another writer to pen the introduction. I have got some recommendations and will be contacting some hopefuls this week.
All the best,
Emily -

Posted project update #6Slow and steady wins the race
Post CommentI sometimes repeat this mantra on long runs in Central Park. It is what came to mind today as I scanned in the last batch of negatives for the book.
I apologize for not keeping it more on schedule and anyone who knows me will tell you that I am always on time.
I now have two full days a week (with baby boy in daycare) to finish up this project.
Backstage black & whites, poetic street scenes, and memorable performances are just some of the gems I dusted off today.
Thanks for sticking with me.
