Thanks, Alex. It truly was inspiring to see everyone come together and make it happen at the end. It is nice to know that so many people care about protecting chickens. Even those that couldn't give financially helped out by spreading the word. This truly was a group effort. Thanks, everyone! The transfer to our account started today, so hopefully we'll be able to get started really soon. We'll keep you up to date. In the meantime, join us on Facebook (facebook.com/deeprootssanctuary).

Posted project update #1Still need more help saving chickens
Post CommentFirst, thanks to everyone who has donated so far. We really, really appreciate it. Unfortunately, we still need to raise quite a bit of money and we only have about a week to do so.
If you didn't see it, we posted a video featuring Mabel the chicken on our Kickstarter campaign page (http://kck.st/crFbgq ). We would be truly grateful if you could help us spread the word about that video and the fundraising campaign.
The best ways to help are to share a bit about why you gave, to post the link (http://kck.st/crFbgq ), and to ask your friends and family to do the same. Doing this via email, Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, Tumblr, blogs, face-to-face and other methods of modern networking are really effective. If everyone who has given got just two friends to give money, we will likely have the full $6000 that we need to build a new barn.
And don't forget to like us on Facebook:
http://www.facebook.com/deeprootssanctuaryMabel also has a new Facebook account, where she fills you in on the life of a chicken at the sanctuary:

Excellent that you guys took in the breeder hens from the cock fighting ring. Your adapting construction to accomodate the hens was beautiful, and a commentary on Deep Roots' committment to their principle of helping exploited animals. Kudos, and Happy Holidays and New Year to you all!!!
