Posted project update #2First Kiln Load
Post CommentAs I type I am firing the first load in the new studio. Thought I would share a pic of the creative loading! This is a bisque firing, so it is the lower temperature that I fire to. It is used to burn out any moisture in the clay and harden it so that it can be glazed and refired (the final firing).
I managed to work in the studio for most of the day with some creative placement of fans to vent out the chemically smell. It wasn't until late this afternoon that I finally had to abandon ship and leave the studio when it became too warm to continue working in the same room.

Posted project update #1Studio Tour
Hi Everyone!
Thought I would post a little studio tour video so that you can see what my 350 sq ft looks like. My studio is in a larger building (Studio 375 at 375 Depot Street). Some of the other artists in the building are: more clay artists (you can't throw a stone without hitting one in Western NC!), a painter, a jewelry teaching studio, and an ad agency. There are still a few spaces that are available, but I don't think they will stay empty for long!Enjoy the video!
