Posted project update #12Kickstarter Buttons Shipped
Post CommentHello,
Just a quick update to let you all know that the Keeper of the Mountains buttons, featuring Elizabeth Hawley's iconic blue VW Beetle were shipped earlier this week! If you did not provide your mailing address on your Kickstarter forms but would like a pin, please message me with your address. They should start arriving in your mailboxes today, so please keep an eye out for them and please post a picture of yourself with your pin on the Keeper of the Mountains facebook page! I'd love to see them! And if you haven't had a chance yet to "Like" the facebook page, it's a great spot to check out the latest on the film.
Next up: a return trip to Kathmandu to film Miss Hawley during what's shaping up to be a very exciting and busy spring climbing season!
Thank you to everyone and I'll continue to keep you posted on the documentary's progress.
Sincerely,
Allison Otto, Director

Posted project update #11T-shirts, Totes, and brownies shipped
Post CommentHello,
Thank you to all of the Keeper of the Mountains supporters for helping to share Elizabeth Hawley's story! I am thrilled to share that I have finished shipping all donor t-shirts, tote bags, and brownies. They should arrive within the next week, so please keep an eye out for them and please post a picture of yourself sporting your Keeper of the Mountains shirt on the Keeper of the Mountains Facebook Page. The VW pins are being special ordered and as soon as I receive them I'll be sure to ship them out to everyone.
In other exciting news, there will be another trip to film Miss Hawley in Kathmandu in late May while she is working on expedition reports during the latter half of the spring expedition season, and this winter I have been busy transcribing footage, collecting archival materials, and interviewing mountaineers--including most recently Reinhold Messner and Dave Hahn!--who shared insightful, witty memories of Miss Hawley.
Also a huge thank you goes out to the American Alpine Club, who in addition to co-sponsoring the Mountainfilm Commitment Grant , has been of such invaluable assistance throughout the project and so enthusiastic about seeing it come to life!
Thanks again to everyone and I'll continue to keep you all posted on the project's progress!
Sincerely,
Allison Otto, Director

Posted project update #8Hey Backers and Pals:
Post Comment(PHOTO: Allison Otto with Jake Norton and Pema the pup.)
Allison and I just spent an awesome week filming in Colorado with climbers, filmmakers, AAC librarians and Miss Hawley's family. It was wonderful and we're fast at work patching together a mini trailer of our work before we head to Kathmandu this month.
In the meantime a few updates:
If you did NOT receive a survey asking you for your mailing address, sizes, etc for SWAG please drop me a line at carole (at) reallabproductions (dot) com. We are currently working with Early Bird Designs in Chicago and we have sleek charcoal gray shirts with an outline of Everest and the Blue Beetle. So hang on, you'll likely see swag going out the first week of September, in addition to baked goods, thank you notes, buttons and love in general!
If you have any questions at all, please drop us a line. Thank you again for your wonderful support of this project.

Thank you. We can't say that enough, so thank you. Right now we are uploading audio of the Unofficial Miss Hawley Folk Hero Song and we will begin the process of collecting information for your due swag. Now if your prize is a DVD-- well the movie hasn't been made yet! But no worries we have pins and buttons to hold you over. (And our exclusive backer only song-- Update #8 will be backers only.)
We've got our thank you note pen full of new ink and we have quite the interviewing schedule for Colorado next week.
Anyone who happens to be in the Boulder area on Monday July 25th at 7 pm please join our film crew at Tahona Tequila Bistro for Happy Hour delights. We'd love to meet you. As always you can drop us a line:

Posted project update #6The Kindness of Strangers
Post CommentWe're absolutely thrilled that everyone would be this generous. Planning production in Kathmandu certainly felt out of reach a month ago, now it feels like possibility. We're on the Hillary Step!
Thank you folks for your kindness. We are at 91% of our goal as I write this, and when we wake up tomorrow there will be less than 24 hours to go with $973 left to raise.
We received this fantastic photo over twitter @woodsontechserv in Anchorage, AK (Cho Oyu 2007) http://yfrog.com/kgkzntrj so we wanted to share it with you. If you'd like to follow our efforts on twitter find us @reallabdocs
We know there's lots of stories out there-- so write us your story, share your photos.

Posted project update #563 Hours To Go and 25% (about $2500) to reach our goal!
Post CommentFriends:
Thank you, thank you for your kind words, generous donations and being a big cheerleader for us. We have a few hours left to go. Our first shoot is in Colorado on July 23rd and we couldn't be more excited to get the whole thing rolling. Please spread the word far and wide over the next day and a half about what we're doing!
We will close out our Kickstarter campaign with the unofficial Miss Hawley Folk Hero Song which involves her taming tigers, riding elephants and dining with Reinhold Messner. (Which is more dangerous? We're not sure!)
Hope to send updates from Kathmandu by summer's end.
