Post CommentI just wanted to let people know I posted a letter out of this project to my site. It was to Alaska Governor Sean Parnell and you can read it here: Gov. Parnell (AK).
Once I get all of the letters written, and have given up on replies, I will take the ones from this project down and put them all into a book of some sort.
I just thought you deserved a taste!

Post CommentI have started to get replies! I've also been getting out letters. I blew my deadline, but we all knew I would going into this thing, so I am living up to expectations!
I have purchased the domain of http://GovernorsAndPremiers.com/ and intend to use it to promote this project and to publish a handful of the letters. See, I'm making good use of the money you gave me.
In the short term I think I will put up a couple pictures of the cats, but once I am done with the letter writing I will attack the site and make something that will make you proud of me. You'll want to print out the site and hang it on your fridge!

Thank you cards! I got 'em done. I'll get 'em in the mail soon. You should get a request for addresses in the next day or so. I'll need a mailing address if you're one of those and an email address if not! I'll be getting the mailing list set up soon and start passing along the letters I'm sending to the Governors & Premiers!
Speaking of...I sent out more letters and today and I got the first two back! One is decent, one is lame. Oh well.
I'm making progress!

Post CommentI bought stamps yesterday and sent the first 9 letters out today! That means I am about as far behind on this project as I expected to be, so I'm sort of right on schedule!
I created a spreadsheet to keep track of how long each response takes to get. Soon I'll set up the mailing list and start sending the letters out. I want to give the first letters a few weeks to start getting some answers, but I hope to keep up the writing and get more in the mail soon!
I just wanted people to know I'm wisely spending their money. So far you bought about $50 in stamps. I'm going to put much of the rest toward graphic design and illustration so I can make this as cool as possible.

I've written many of the letters already. I was hoping to have them all done, but immersing myself in State history and politics is a bit more work than I planned. I don't want the letters to be forced. I'll send the first ones on Tuesday and try to get the rest done in a reasonable amount of time (I still have the site to run).
I will be contacting people for the information I need to provide rewards.
