Posted project update #19Final Update. Official Album Release Show.
Post CommentThe prints were sent last week, so you should have all received your albums, stickers, prints, T-shirts, and/or other backer rewards by now.. but if you haven't —or anything is missing, like the download card in the album for those of you that got albums— please let us know.
Many of you showed up for the private backer party, but the official public release is this Saturday, March 31, and we're doing it at Siberia on St. Claude Ave in NOLA (10pm). Opening are The Lonely Lonely Knights and Microshards. Folks that didn't get a chance to get an album can buy one at the show. There are also copies available for mail order at backporchrevolution.
Finally, if you would like to stay in touch, you can follow Chef Menteur on Facebook (click like) and Twitter.
Thanks to all of you for helping us make this journey -- hope to see you at the show.

Posted project update #17Download Cards fixed
Post CommentThanks to everyone who came to the party last night and our wonderful host/backer Karen for putting it all together. We had a great time and it was truly a release we're proud to celebrate.
Our sincere apologies to anyone who had trouble downloading using download cards late last night... In the rush to get everything done in time for last night's party, not everything was working correctly.
However they should be fixed now. Let us know if you have any problems.
Everyone else: we'll be sending out your rewards over the next couple weeks!

Here is the info from Karen: "Possibly the best excuse for a party I've ever had: Chef Menteur has finished the new double album, East of the Sun & West of the Moon, and they'll be playing at my house to celebrate the album release. Show time is at 8 pm sharp*; food, drinks, and whatever else you do at a party before. Laid back, kid friendly, great live music. Y'all come. Message me if you need the address." She also adds that there will be pulled pork. We'll be bringing a keg of beer. And of course the beautiful brand new albums & other goodies to pass out to all our wonderful supporters.

Posted project update #13Printing & Pressing Update
Post CommentWe're not too happy to report that the record plant messed up the second round of test pressings, but we're hoping to get the final pressing next week so we can move ahead with full production of all 200 (x2 LPs = 400) limited edition records. Sides A and B have been approved, but side D had a glitch again where they messed the sequencing up ever so slightly. Also there was too much surface noise on side C to be acceptable.
Curious as to how the process works? Watch this charming British couple go on this very bizarre tour (that I just found) of the United Record Pressing plant in Nashville, Tennessee. Yup, the very same one where our records are being pressed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFhPXw9XnLs
Hmm, are those our records they're handling in that video? I think they might have let that English lady get a little too frisky with our masters!
Much more pleasant news is happening on the printing side, we are very excited to report. Thomas Peri, the cover artist and printer, designed and built 48 drying racks (with friends & the band lending a hand) and the inside 2 faces (this is a double album, after all, so we went for the gatefold) have been printed and the front cover has now had the first color applied. This is serious old-school block printing, and it's time consuming. If each print takes 5 minutes per copy, and there are 4 sides, and 200 copies, and 2 sides require multiple colors, I think that's 100 hours of labor just for the printing ... not a casual task. These are looking really, really great so far, and we're confident you're going to be very happy with your copy.
Again, apologies for the delay. We hope you'll think it was worth it.

ALSO: Prints and download cards for non-vinyl people will be sent next week.
