Posted project update #4Programmer chosen, prototyping started!
I'll get right to it:
John P. Doran is our programmer! He's been working on games since 2007, and before that, he worked at a videographer, and during that time, he won multiple awards, such as the Telly Award in 2007. So far, he's displayed enthusiasm about the project, and has created a very primitive prototype that can be found on his website.
To see his resume, click here, and to see his blog post about the prototype, click here.
We will require lots of testing to get this game just right, so when we reach that point (hopefully soon), I'll give everyone a link they can visit to download the Alpha and start playing.
Talk to you soon!

Posted project update #3Last minute success!
Thanks to an epic 11th hour savior backer, we're funded!
I pretty much froze when I read the email from Kickstarter saying someone backed us for $400. Not only is this person making it into EHSC because it is one of the rewards they are entitled to, but lead designer Matthew suggested letting this person cameo in all of our future games as well, should they wish!
Wow. We are humbled, more than anything, that people should have faith in our project, but also driven more than before to create a game that makes everyone proud to say they supported us.
I just finished getting back to everyone who was interested in the programmer position (it took a while!), and over the next few days, we will get responses and make our decision. When we do, I will post an update to let everyone know who they hired!
Thank you, backers, so much!

Posted project update #2Only three days left, spread the word!
Post CommentGDC was amazing. We got to meet people who had messaged us after seeing our Kickstarter project who are interested in the programmer position, and got a few people interested who had never heard of it.
However, the project is drawing to a close, and we have only met 20% of our goal. We are of course doing our best to spread the work about this project, but we need a little help in the final few days.
If everyone could just post a link to our project and ask everyone they can to do so as well, we might have a chance of hitting our goal. Just use the link below, with a message like, "If you can't contribute, you still have a chance to be super awesome! Re-post this link!" Do it everywhere you can: Facebook, Twitter (#EHSC), IndieDB/ModDB, wherever you hang out on the interwebs.
Thanks so much for your support, even if we don't reach our goal. It's encouraging to know people want to see our game completed!

Posted project update #110% success, unforeseen benefits of this project
We posted this project on LinkedIn, Facebook, and emailed it to some friends, and while we only have two backers so far, it covers 10% of our goal. While it's not exactly Double Fine-caliber success, it does give us optimism, and the hope that by month's end, we will be able to afford a programmer (which will basically let us finish the game).
One side-effect of this project we did not predict was the sudden interest in the position! Obviously, we intended to find talent at GDC, but we have been receiving resumes and emails letting us know that there are already programmers attending GDC who are interested in the position. Keep the emails coming, and maybe donate a few bucks, if it helps you get hired! ;)

I'm sure this project will reach its goal. And good thing you already have potential programmers for this game, can't wait to see more of it! :)

Posted project update #1Graphics Demonstration of Character Models
Post CommentThe art style in Extreme Hugtime Simulation Challenge is very important to the aesthetic of the game. A cute and pleasing visual style will make the game accessible, by appealing to non-gamers; the unlockable levels, rewarding achievement and scoring system, and difficult-to-master gameplay will more than adequately appeal to gamers.
Not only will the beauty of the game make it special, but so will the comedic irony: it isn't actually a Japanese game based on a Japanese game show, but EHSC certainly thinks that it is!
So, take a look at our graphics demo, featuring the game show's announcer.
See how anime he is?
See how stiff he is? Poor, boneless guy. If only there were some way to fix his ailment....
Enjoy!
