Posted project update #5Success!
Thank you! Thank You!! THANK YOU!!!
We reached our funding goal and cannot thank you enough. We can still accept donations so please help us get the word out.
Aurora grows taller everyday and is about to bust thru the ceiling at the Box Shop. The electronics assembly and soldering efforts are starting to kick into high gear, and the custom software driving the LEDs is making them look spectacular.
Shortly after our funding date on Friday 8/12, we will send out a survey for your rewards. You can specify the Initials you want stamped into your leaf at that time. The remaining rewards will go out after Burning Man, sometime in September.
Oh, here is what 200 branches look like as they await shipment to the galvanizing shop.
soon,
The Aurora Team

Posted project update #4Crossing the Rubicon
Post CommentHello All~
Thank you for your support on this project.
We have officially entered Crunch Mode, a term near and dear to most creative projects, perhaps you've heard of it? All the months of planning are coming into focus as we enter the main build phase of this spectacular piece.
Many of the principle mechanical and electronic components are in-house and we are really getting traction on Aurora's realization. As much fun it would be, we have not yet had to leg wrestle the Flaming Lotus Girls for space at the Box Shop where both Aurora and Tympani Lambada are being built.
Here are some progress shots of the lower Trunk and Branches...
in dust,
The Aurora Team

Posted project update #3RGB LED strips: signed, sealed, delivered
Post CommentTHANK YOU for your support! We are almost 2/3rds of the way there.
We tested 700 meters of newly-arrived LED strips - they ALL worked.
Aurora incorporates 15,000 RGB LEDs on 200 branches. Each branch is individually addressable. What does that mean?
Sequences of 45,000 animated LEDs spread over several hundred square feet for your viewing pleasure! Think we're gonna need a bigger gennie?
