Posted project update #8The show was a huge success, thanks to ALL OF YOU!!!
I'm still reeling from the amazing weekend. Last week was one of the most intense, physically demanding, stressful weeks I've ever had as I prepared for the opening of my debut LA solo show. I was going to bed at 3 to 4 am every night, and then BAM, Saturday night rolled around. At 6:50 pm, 10 minutes before the doors opened, still in my dirty work clothes, I had a paintbrush in hand still making finishing touches to the installation. The Hold Up Art staff was extremely helpful in making sure that the entire setup and opening event itself went smoothly.
The show had such a great turnout--a mixture of friends, family, fans, art lovers in general, and yes, Kickstarter backers. :) We even had a dance party at the end of the night, what more could a girl want?!
With the extra money I raised, I bought art stickers and postcards, and made silkscreened prints to give away to the first 100 people that arrived. I also made silkscreened t-shirts and limited edition giclees to sell at the gallery as well. I gave away psychedelic holographic glasses to view my three dimensional installations with, to ensure that everyone had an awesome trip-out experience. ;) All of you backers will be getting those stickers and postcards on top of the backer awards that you're already expecting. I'll be sending the holographic glasses to my backers that pledged over $50.
I'll be spending December and January fulfilling the Kickstarter rewards, so you should expect your rewards sometime before the end of January.
In the meantime, enjoy these photos taken by my friend Gabriel Perez. I'll be uploading a more official photo album in the next couple of days. Again thanks so much to all of you, I honestly mean it when I say without you this show would not have been such a huge success!
xo

Posted project update #7(Photos) The Countdown Begins! 1 Month until the OPENING!
Hello to all my backers!! Don't worry, I'm very much alive, and I haven't taken off with your money. :)
I just wanted to update you on the haps of my upcoming solo show. The countdown begins--1 month left until the opening of the show! By the end of next week I'll be finished with most of my new pieces, so I'll be able to send you images so you can see your options for the 5x7 print, as well as the digital poster and signed limited edition giclee print.
Next week, I'll be releasing a painting time lapse video so you can see the process of one of my new pieces, from start to completion.
If you'd like to make it to the opening, it will be Saturday December 3rd from 7pm-11pm at Hold Up Art Gallery in downtown Los Angeles. 358 E. 2nd St, LA, CA 90012. We'll be having a DJ and a dance floor in the front gallery--it will very much be a celebration, because you have helped to make this happen!
See below for some progress photos from the last couple of months:

Just a 'taste' of what's to come ;)

I spy... two paintings that are 90% complete!

Posted project update #5Title my work and win free art!
Post CommentMany thanks again to all who've contributed to this show, it's growing in ways that I didn't even imagine. For example, we've decided to transform the front gallery into a disco/dance floor! YESSS. After all, the show will be doubling as my birthday party. ;) So for everyone that can make the drive out to Los Angeles for this show, PLEASE DO! Not only would I love to meet you, but you'll have a blast. Seriously. We also plan on giving away some goodies for the first wave of people to arrive, more details on that later..
Now on to the next line of business: Paint By Word. If you've been following my Facebook fan page, you might already be familiar. Paint By Word is a project I started to get other people involved with my work. Every Wednesday and Friday, I post up a paint splatter on my Facebook Page and ask the question, "What's the first thing you think of when looking at this? (in one or two words only)" It's the same process I use to create most of my work, but now I'd like to get you involved. If I choose your word, I'll create a painting based on it, and a print of the completed piece will be sent to you. I'll be posting these up every week until the end of September.
Here is the painting that's currently up right now:

What's the first thing you think of when seeing this?
Leave your answer as a Facebook comment here.Follow my Facebook Fan Page for the latest updates and to view the bi-weekly Paint By Word images.
Cheers! <3
