Posted project update #14ending
I sit here in the Seattle studio that has been my creative home for the last month. Pretty much all of my belongings have been removed and tomorrow I'll get on the road for some further adventures in California.
This process has been rich. The solo dance I created was performed 17 times in all — we added a few shows to our original lineup. I feel good about having taken the bold step to perform for one person at a time. It was risky, but it seems to have left people feeling like they had a special and beautiful experience.
I'm also feeling good about approaching dance composition and improvisation in a more subtle and grounded fashion. Throughout the process I learned that a quiet, sensitive approach yields much in terms of emotional resonance. Whenever I strayed from this focused attention and tried to speed things up or be more flashy, I felt the performance lose something important.
In any case, I'm tired and fulfilled. Please feel free to contact me with any thoughts and/or questions.
I'm enormously grateful to my backers. Thank you.

Hi, Asimina,
Thank you for writing and sending this! I loved reading about your experiences and really admire how brave you are! I especially loved this: "Whenever I strayed from this focused attention and tried to speed things up or be more flashy, I felt the performance lose something important." That's something I can live my life by!
Thanks again and keep up the good work!
All the best,
Wini
THANK YOU Wini!
Heart,
Asimina
