    Almost there

    Hey All!

Thank you so much for supporting us thus far! We’ve just hit 25% mark and are so happy to have your support!

We’ve got a little over a week to make that big push and would appreciate you spreading the word to friends, family, Brooklynites and anyone you think would be interesting in helping us make this project live!

Development: We have been finalizing the design on the sides of the structure. We are using existing perforated steel panels and welding them together to form a fluid wave pattern that runs across the installation. More light will permeate the larger holes at the center of each gate, revealing a pattern reminiscent of sound waves. The overall effect is a soothing glow of lights that brightens the path without distracting drivers.

We aim to use recycled panels wherever possible. Up next, we experiment with LED lights!" Stay tuned and don't forget to donate!

We’ve gotten a bunch of publicity and a spot on Brooklyn News Channel 12 (woohoo!!) take a look!!

    ARTfarm all planted

We are very excited to inform you that ARTfarm is fully installed and planted. After a touchup this weekend, the project will be close to done. We are looking into the matters of maintainability of the site and having been working closely with the Bronx Museum and the Department of Transportation on these issues. We are also in the process of working with Architecture for Humanity New York Chapter for a fundraiser party in the coming weeks. We will be sharing the information regarding the party with all you wonderful people who made this project a reality and hope to give out the Kickstarter gifts during that event. For those of you who are not in New York and wont make it to the event, we will make sure you get, what has been promised to you.

Keep updated on the project through our blog - http://afhnystudio.org . Also please feel free to shoot us an email at studio@afhny.org if you are interested in volunteering this weekend for the final touch up and would like to see the site.

    Thank you so much again!

    Planting and Prizes

This is late in coming but we would like to thank everyone who helped us raise funds for ARTfarm. The project is due to finish end of August. After working onsite for close to 3 months, we're a bit worn out from working under the sun, but still very enthusiastic. A big planting session will be announced shortly after all the planters are installed. We would love it if some of the backers would like to show up to that as well. The prizes will be coming out as soon as we make the last push for ARTfarm which will be end of August. So please bear with us. We haven't forgotten you, our generous backers and supporters. Thanks so much again!

    Work has started on ARTfarm!

Thanks to all our backers, work is in full swing on the site on 165th Street.
We painted the railings, installed the sidewalk planters and started drilling into the concrete sloped areas.

And while we learned that drilling into concrete is no cakewalk, we are delighted by the presence of the neighborhood's enthusiastic kids and their precious help!
The funds are going straight into acquiring the rest of the connection material and plants from local nurseries and providing for their maintenance, a task that has definitely become more "fun" in this heat wave.

Only 70 hours left and a little over $900 to raise.
Keep helping ARTfarm to grow, thank you!
