UNTOLD TALES OF THE COMIC INDUSTRY
Posted project update #8THANK YOU.
Post CommentWe did it.
You did it.
The thirty-day rollercoaster has finally returned to its point of launch, and we're slowly but surely peeling our white-knuckled hands off the safety bar. Thank you all so much for your help; you've given us the power to say YES instead of I'M NOT SURE, and that's the best power anyone in our line of work could hope for.
We're going to make an amazing film. We believe that, and we're thrilled that you're willing to believe it, too.
Thank you very much.

My wife Jessica asked me to share this from her Facebook page: I just want to say "thank you" to everyone that helped fund Brandon's documentary. He's been a nervous wreck for the past 30 days, and because of you we might both enjoy a night of deep sleep tonight! I'm hoping he'll "sleep like the dead" without the "dead" part. $18k is just unbelievable...for a documentary it's considered a smaller budget, yes, but I've seen what they've been able to do so far with no budget...so I just cannot wait for this thing to be made! Congrats Brandon, Ali, and Tom!

UNTOLD TALES OF THE COMIC INDUSTRY
Posted project update #7Please excuse the shocked look on my face.
Here we are: THE FINAL DAY of this Kickstarter campaign. Things weren't looking all that promising a couple of days ago, and that's the plain and simple truth of it...
...but something changed over the last 24 hours.
Suddenly, a $5,000 donation landed in our laps, and that set off a chain reaction. New pledges, previous pledges bumping up to higher levels, and a renewed groundswell of support from the internet. We were about $9,000 short on Monday, and now we're looking at less than $2,000 to drive this monster home.
Unbelievable. Exciting. Humbling.
And it's all because of you.
It's a little after 5 A.M. here in Seattle, and I haven't been able to sleep.
Nervous. Curious. Thrilled. Terrified.
And it's all because of you.

UNTOLD TALES OF THE COMIC INDUSTRY
Posted project update #6THE END IS NEAR
Post CommentPretty sure we're not going to make it.
We have three days to make half of our $18,000.00 goal. I was never very good at math, but I do have a pretty good eye for logical probability; I'll allow the possibility of a final inning turnaround, but that's not the likely outcome.
Still, we persevere, and we'll continue to spread the word and keep our fingers crossed until the clock runs down to the final second. Even if we fail at the fundraising, we will not fail in our ultimate mission to deliver a fantastic documentary about the comic industry.
I've said it whenever I've had the chance, but it bears repeating: THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT. It doesn't matter if you gave us ONE DOLLAR or ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS, or if you helped solely by spreading the word. Everything counts in large amounts, as the song goes.
I'll note here that we are absolutely willing to honor the incentives for anyone who would like to keep their pledge commitment to us regardless of what happens on Thursday morning. You can write us here, or contact me directly at brandonjerwa@gmail.com if that's something you'd like to discuss.
In the meantime, we'll keep pounding the pavement and hoping for the best. Thanks again, everyone.

UNTOLD TALES OF THE COMIC INDUSTRY
Posted project update #3These things come in waves.
Post CommentSaturday was our slowest donation day so far. This is to be expected, of course; Rome wasn't built in a day, and I'd be willing to bet that not every day on that particular construction site was a total winner. A couple of guys showed up late one day, so that threw the Coliseum off-schedule; there was that incident where half the crew ate some bad olives that Typhor's wife brought in for lunch, which put a real hole in the workforce for half a week or so; and don't even get me started on the mess that sprung up when the Union reps decided to start asking questions.
On the other hand, I'm pretty sure the Romans didn't have a countdown clock looming over them that dictated whether or not they got to keep the city if they ran out of time! Haha.
The effort to succeed with this project carries on. Our media director Jessica has been diligently sending out literally hundreds of press releases to media sources of all kinds this weekend, and will continue to do so over the next 48 hours. We're really hoping that the comic press and mainstream media alike will help spread the word at the least, with the best-case scenario being actual interviews and high-profile articles. As always, we are thankful for whatever we receive.
We hope you enjoyed the new clip we released today; we'll be distributing more of those in the days to come. We can't show you EVERYTHING, but we can certainly offer you some (hopefully) tantalizing glimpses into the world of UNTOLD TALES.
Enjoy your weekend. Keep the faith. We'll do the same.
