Posted project update #35The Teenage Years - Track 1: "When We Get There"

"When We Get There" is the first track off of my new time-release record: The Teenage Years!! I wrote this song in 2005 and finally recorded it this past month! Produced by Andrew Futral, mixed by Mike Eisenstein, drummed on by Zach Jones, with some subtle bg harms by Maia Macdonald of Mitten, and a sweet logo by Hiller Goodspeed. STAR STUDDED.
If you backed this project for $15 or more, you should have just gotten this track in your email inbox!
For those of you who didn't get in on the action while you still could, do not fret!

Posted project update #34Two Weeks Later.... Teenage Years or Teenage YEAR??
OH HEY THERE. Two weeks is so long, internet. I've missed you!! I've been busier than ever finishing out this year. I've got a tour coming up, I've been mailing out a ton of packages, and I've been rehearsing and recording the acoustic version of this new record!!! It's sounding so great! I'm stoked to show it to you!
Here's the thing. I've been thinking a lot about the Teenage Years EP. The original idea was to choose four songs and put them out together in the months following the album release. Turns out, you guys were super excited about way more than just four songs, which got me thinking.
2012: The Teenage Year???
I propose that instead of taking a vote and only releasing four songs, I instead record TWELVE songs. Do you see what I'm getting at? That's one song a month, released on the last day of the month. Every month. For a whole year. Everyone who donated over $15 to this project will receive said song in their inbox for free. Everyone who missed out will have the opportunity to purchase each song as they become available.
WHAT DO YOU THINK?!!!
Ultimately it's up to you, Internet. I promised I would make you an EP, but I think this new way could be better. Let's go over the pros and cons...
Cons
- You have to wait a full year to acquire all of the songsPros
- You get 12 songs instead of 4
- Nobody has to choose which are their favorites
- I get to work with different producers and musicians on each track, spending the right amount of time to make everything sound the way it should
- Something to be excited about every month!!!!
Please comment and let me know your personal pros and cons!
See you soon!

Posted project update #33WE DID IT... AGAIN!
Ladies and gentlemen and everyone in between... we did it. After thirty days of wild and crazy internet fun, we raised $30,795 towards the future of Allison Weiss Music Inc., two-and-a-half times as much as the original $12k goal. All because YOU are amazing.
Last night was incredible. Thank you everyone who came and hung out at the first ever TELETHON. I had a blast getting to talk to so many of you. I got phone calls from fans all over the USA, talked to my dear pal Bess Rogers & producer Chris Kuffner, and I even got a real-life visit from friends and tourmates, Mitten. If you missed out, you can totally stream the whole thing over at http://allisonweiss.tv and relive it all moment by moment.
SO WE MET EVERY GOAL. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?!
It means every person who donated $15 or more is going to get a digital copy of my NEW RECORD, the ACOUSTIC version, and a TEENAGE YEARS EP (to be released later in 2012). Everyone who donated will get my cover of "Call Your Girlfriend." Plus I've got so many pizza dates ahead of me.

Special thanks to the mysterious Tess (last name unknown) who sent us over the $30k edge last night with a super generous donation, and is totally winning this original artwork from Daniel Fishel which you may recognize from the I Was An Island EP cover!!
Oh Internet, I am so tired. Our telethon lasted until two-something-in-the-morning and I sure as hell couldn't go right to sleep after so much excitement. Plus I may be suffering from a little PEDAS (Post Excitement Depression/Anxiety Syndrome)... I miss you already!!
But this isn't the end of the fun. It never is, you know? I'll be spending the next few months finishing this record. It still has to be mixed, mastered, put in some kind of order, and titled. I've got to figure out the artwork, who will promote it, and when it will come out. One of the main purposes of this next project is to take all of this to the next level. After so many years as a DIY artist, I think it's time to put together a team.
THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT!! LET'S DO THIS.

Being 5 hours ahead, I was on my way to work when the telethon ended but I don't mind. I'm so stoked that the target was met. All those Teenage Years songs are amazing.

Posted project update #32Join me in a Final Countdown Telethon TONIGHT at 10pm EST!!
With only 18 hours to go, we really are in the final countdown of this project! It's been a magical ride of friendship and support and I cannot thank you enough!! Tonight I'm going to do something I've never done before. Join me at 10:00pm EST for my very own TELETHON. I'll be streaming live at http://allisonweiss.tv and calling some of the backers who have helped this project reach it's milestones. Even though my voice is going away, I'll play some songs, tell some stories, and even accept some phone calls from YOU GUYS.

Animated gif courtesy of the Kickstarter Blog, where you can also watch a video of me performing live in their office last week.
The last and final Tell Everyone Award winner is Katelyn Thompson who made this amazing YouTube video to help promote this project. I LOLed, you guys.
I'll leave you with the working cover of the zine/songbook you can get when you donate at the $75 level. Full of chords, lyrics, stories, photos, and more... it's going to end up being pretty long. I decided on the title last night and I think it's appropriate.

Mines not in my inbox. :/
So I pledged $30 and have the link to download it, but when i'm there I can stream it but see no download option. Am I being stupid or...?
Scratch that, just had to use "Download Linked File" on the right click menu in the email, rather than left clicking.
