I was born in Kentucky in 1978. While still a kid, I had an ability for art, however, over time science became my main interest. Putting away the sketchpad, I eventually earned two bachelor degrees from Eastern Kentucky University in Psychology and Soci... view more

    And then the sunset ...

As you may have already known, the Instant America Project has failed to receive funding. Maybe it is true that the age of instant film has now passed us by. I may take this as a sign to sell off my Polaroid cameras while they are still worth some money, perhaps channel it into another project of broad scale.

I just wanted to drop everyone this update to tell you all how amazing it was that you supported me, I am eternally grateful that you seen the value of the project. Alas, too few did. As such, we part ways with you gaining my most heartfelt thank yous.

A new reward added @ the $500 level

It might be a long shot but I added in a reward for a $500 level backer. I got the idea from another project where the idea was to bring the backer into the project somehow. This is how I am implementing this idea into the instant america project. You can read the details in the rewards section on the main page.

The website is live ... sorta.

I broke down last night and built a wordpress blog to point the site at. It isn't exactly what I wanted, but with 40 days to go there needed to be something.

If funding is successful the instantamericaproject.com will be the future site of all the updates as the journey unfolds in May.

    Newly releathered SX-70 Model 2

Just thought I would post a quick dirty image of the SX-70 Model 2 that I mentioned in the previous post. I recovered it in hand cut red snake skin. I think it looks pretty swanky!

    Score!

Yesterday I scored a new camera for the project, an SX-70 Model 2. It is white with brown leather. The covering is shot and needs to be replaced, so Im going to replace it with red snake skin. Should be a cool combo.

Funding has slowed down and I urge my backers to help me get the word out via their social networks or any other way they can help. If not this, and you have ideas to aid me in getting the word out feel free to drop me an email! I really believe in this project and I am pushing it via my own networks.

I hope everyone had a great Holiday season and a happy New Year!

We got hit by a blizzard here, and I've been finishing Finals (landed a 4.0 this semester), so my web designer and myself had to postpone our meetings till next week. We've decided to do a full Drupal build versus using the custom Wordpress framework we developed for my main site. Hoping to get the site up soon. Thanks for checking in!

    Initial Map of Route

This is my initial map that shows the route I plan to take if funding is successful. As I mentioned in the main page, I feel this route gets a good cross section and the maximum amount of scenery differences. There are wide open spaces of farmland in Nebraska, the wide open spaces surrounded by snowcapped mountains, little farm towns filled with interesting people, the desert, the red dirt of Oklahoma, the Rockies, the red rocks of Southern Colorado, dinosaur fields, snow capped mountains, skiiers (even in May), and snow filled mountain passes. A little bit of everything in less than 3500 miles.
