Posted project update #17Post Ypsi Project Exhibit : Better late than never!!
As you all know a few weeks ago Mike and I hosted the Ypsi Project Exhibit. We put aside our daily lives for a few days and did our best to organize everything and have it all ready for the one day showing. We couldn't have accomplished *any* of this without everyone's support and encouragement. I'm happy to report that the exhibit went great....just great.
For the entire day there was a steady stream of people coming in and out. It was thrilling to watch people take the time to look at every portrait, to read every description and almost everyone had a heartfelt response to the images. I have gotten to know the people of Ypsi while doing this project and the reaction to the portraits just underscored the sense of community that Ypsi exudes. I saw several viewers smile at seeing someone that they recognized but never met and voice their enthusiasm because next time they would have a conversation topic. Some of you that came in where a little overwhelmed as was I; portraits of people from all walks of life where hanging in the same room....it was like a tiny, concentrated dose of Ypsi and it was wonderful.
To anyone who missed the one day showing, the entire exhibit will be up at Riverside Arts Center during the Heritage Festival (the entire month of August!) Thanks to Lynda Hummel for arranging that wonderful opportunity!
Mike, being his usual wonderful self, made a video of the day. Hope you enjoy it!
Thanks again for everything!
p.s
Keep an eye out on the YP blog! There are still portraits going up and fun announcements on the way :)

Posted project update #16Countdown to YP Exhibit : 3 days
Mike and I have been hard at work getting things together for the exhibit. I just wanted to send out a quick update as to what's been happening. We can't wait to see everyone on Saturday!
As you can see in the video (thanks to Mike for that!!*) the prints arrived! Despite my worst fears they made it safe and sound and look amazing. I can't wait for everyone to see them on Saturday!
The 7x7 books are in and waiting along with the Amanda Edmonds designed Ypsi buttons. If your reward was a single Ypsi button it should have arrived as I sent them out more than a week ago. Please let me know if you have not yet gotten your button.
If you were to receive a 7x7 book and flyer along with your button, I was waiting on the flyers to come and we just got them today! Mike went out of town for his project, For Thousands of Miles, and had some technical difficulties with his computer for a few days when he got home. This set back the design process of the flyers a little bit. After dealing with all of that we finally submitted the order to VG Kids and received them today! Then we spent the majority of the afternoon hanging them around town.
The large books are unfortunately taking up a lot more time than I expected. Who would have thought creating a 300 page book would be tricky and time consuming!
Friday we are going to be at the XVG space setting up. We are prepped and ready for set up, only waiting to pick up a couple of tables tomorrow that a few friends are lending.
Can't wait to see everyone on Saturday!

Isn't it awesome to see your work printed large? It's a completely different experience from seeing it on a monitor. No matter how nice or large your monitor is... nothing compares to a giant print. It's so real and physical... it's something else.
So glad to see things almost there!!!

Posted project update #14*whew* This exhibit stuff is hard work :)
Post CommentHello Everyone,
I just wanted to send out a quick update about what's been going on;
The 7 x7 books are done and ordered!
Check out a preview of the Ypsi Project : the Un-Portraits here.
The Ypsi buttons are in my possession waiting to be packaged up.
The large book is in the final stage of editing.
We've had some major technical set backs but are working on the flyers now.
I expect all the rewards to be ready to go by exhibit time! The XVG space is booked for June 5th, check out the Facebook invite here!
Mike and I are working hard (with some help from Jami Carlson) on organizing, editing, designing (despite massive technical difficulties), pulling in photos that were missing and taking a few last minute Ypsi Project portraits.
Thank you for your support and patience.....can't wait to see you at the exhibit!:)

Posted project update #13If you see Patrick Reynolds tell him he's awesome.
Hi Everyone!
Just wanted to share some awesome news; a local exhibit designer, Patrick Reynolds, has volunteered his time and talent to make a 3D rendering of the Ypsi Project Exhibit! We are really excited (and flattered) because not only will it help with the planning stages, but it will also allow those of you who can't make it to see the show!
So, if you see Patrick Reynolds tell him he's awesome....we already did, but a few more times won't hurt.
:)

My mission is to shoot studio portraits for each person i see on the street. The only way to achieve this goal is to build a mini portable studio.
