Posted project update #15PortsCenter Livestream Event - Saturday, 12pm-2pm PST / 8pm-10pm BST
Post CommentI'll be spending two hours playing Worms: The Director's Cut, taking questions, talking about the history of the game and demonstrating some of the awesome customization features that this 15 year-old rarity had to offer back in the day. Full details for the stream can be found here.
I still really, really want to make this show, by the way. I just wish I could afford to.

Posted project update #14PortsCenter @ Wonder-Con 2012
Post CommentThat’s right Ports Fans, we’re going to be at Wonder-Con this year… selling our bodies. Crikey.
Still Hellbent on raising the $4,000 we need to produce a full season of 13 episodes, I’ll be doing whatever it takes to get us closer to our goal. That includes providing certain, erm, services at Wonder-Con this year.
Hey, don’t judge me. I’m just doing what needs to be done, and if someone gets to feel good as a result of my fundraising efforts then, well, I count that as a positive too.
I’ll be posting a Wonder-Con videoblog next week to show you how everything went down, too. So you’ve got that to look forward to.

Posted project update #12End of the Road
Post CommentUnless an astounding and improbable miracle happens within the next ten hours, it looks like we won't be hitting our target for this season. Bit of an embuggerance, but there we are.
We're not giving up yet - for every person who has pledged to this show there are dozens who have told me how much they've enjoyed it, and how they wish they were in a position to chip in. I suppose launching this Kickstarter in the run-up to Christmas probably wasn't the smartest idea we've had, eh readers?
The current plan is to reassess the budget, see if we can trim the fat a little to bring our target amount down, then produce a second pilot and retry this whole Kickstarter lark in the new year.
I want to thank everybody who has pledged. Keep an eye on your inboxes, because when we remount our Kickstarter we'll be posting another update here.
Happy holidays, everybody. :)

Posted project update #11Help make the cancelled Game Boy Color port of Resident Evil publicly available!
Post CommentHere's a little slice of forgotten gaming history: Back in the early 00s, a team of Capcom developers began working on porting the seminal survival-horror game Resident Evil to the Game Boy Color. The title was covered in a number of magazines at the time, but towards the end of development Capcom pulled the plug over concerns that it didn't meet their standards of quality.
Years later, they released Resident Evil 5, which was shit. But that's neither here nor there.
The game was practically finished, and a playable beta exists. Now someone is trying to raise the money to make a ROM of the beta publicly available.
This would be incredibly useful for me, as one of the planned episodes of PortsCenter is going to look at two ports of Resident Evil - the Sega Saturn version, and the Game Boy Color version. Having a playable copy of the GBC port would obviously make that a lot easier.
Head on over to Unseen64 for more details and to chip in, if you're able.
Happy holidays!

We're quite a way from our goal and we can't reach it without your help. Remember to spread the word!

Posted project update #930 days have November
Post CommentHey everybody.
We're 30 days into our pledge period, at the halfway mark, and we've raised 16% of the $7,000 needed to produce the full season. Please, spread the word - Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook, Google+, wherever you can. The more eyeballs we get on this thing, the more likely we are to hit our target.
I want to produce a second episode - the first episode of the season - out of pocket, but getting together everybody who helped make the pilot possible is proving to be difficult. It's nearly Thanksgiving, and after that there's Christmas. Fact is we may not get to make that second episode until the fundraiser ends, which would suck entirely.
This is one of the reasons our target goal is so high. $7,000 mostly covers equipment costs - cameras, capturing equipment, lighting, microphones, editing software, and so on. If I have this equipment on hand I needn't rely on so many people and so filming more episodes becomes a simpler task.
Help us to make PortsCenter a reality. We can't do this without you.
Thanks,
~Team PortsCenter -

Posted project update #8Episode 1 in development
Post CommentNo, we haven't reached our goal yet, but I've decided to go ahead and mount production on a second episode - what would be the first episode of our production run proper. I'm largely paying for it out of pocket - I've already ordered the game, and I already own the hardware needed to play it - but I'll be getting the gang who developed the pilot back together to produce this episode.
What's the game going to be, though? Well, without giving away anything solid, it's a handheld port of a beloved 90s RTS title.
Where possible we'll be producing behind-the-scenes content for this one - a proper "making Of" video - to give you a taste of what to expect should you pledge enough to earn that reward.
Wish us luck!
