Posted project update #3Outlining the script for, "Kill as a Family"
Post CommentWe are starting to outline the story that will shape the movie flow for, "Kill as a Family."
With all the footage we collected from the 2010 season we have close to 100 plus hours of footage and are getting the game plan together.
Some of the highlights we had in the season included Goober's first jam, the team securing thei Womens Flat Track Derby Association, and the developement of new players like Diss Tress and Coma Inducer. We interviewed almost every single player for more than an hour each, filmed at every home game and one away game, with interviews at every bout we attended,
We also filmed multiple practices and was able to see the team grow and bond, by being allowed on these private sessions. These women gave us amazing access to their personal stories and filming their lives in and outside of derby.

Posted project update #2Derby News Network
We have been in contact with Derby News Network and hope to get a story about, "Kill as a Family" in order to promote our movie. We are currently researching media outlets that specialize in roller derby, such as the online "television" station, Derby News Network. With us about to begin editing that gives us plenty of time to promote the movie and get people aware of the film, especially as we begin to develop plans for our web site. By the time we complete editing we should have several media ties to help promote the release of the movie when it is completed.Post Comment -

Posted project update #10Another distribution possibility
Post CommentI met the producer of the movie, "Red Dirt Rising" and really hit it off with him as we discussed his racing movie being a part of Modern Film Fest, which I am the co-founder and artistic director of. While we talked about the movie screening as our gala film at the festival, based at the historic Gem Theatre in Kannapolis, N.C., we also talked about, "Tearing Down the Tent."
The producer, Todd Morris, is also in charge of a distribution company, Native Intelligence, which is getting started and he is already making connections with Regal Cinemas. Morris and I hit it off well and could very well develop a great working relationship and have another possibility of getting "Tearing Down the Tent" out to people.
I will keep you posted on the development of Modern Film Fest and Morris' involvement and how that can ultimately help "Tearing Down the Tent."
Take care and thanks, Mike

Posted project update #9Ricochet Film Festival
Post CommentCurrently I am moving forward on organizing a film festival in Asheville, NC at the Carolina Cinemas and we will screen, "Tearing Down the Tent" at the inaugural event. Things are still early, but we look to have a total of two screens and 28 movies. This will be the second film festival I help launch, having been the co-founder of Modern Film Fest, which will have its seconed festival during the first weekend of October.
I am working with David Forbes, of the Mountain Xpress, to organize the Richocet Film Festival and worked with Forbes before when were recruiters for the Asheville Film Festival.
Thanks to everyone for their support and take care, Mike
